There is more that 200 volcanic formations. The protect millions of Sea Turtles. They play their national anthem. People call it "nature's playground".

They celebrate a lot of the same holidays as the USA. But one thing they do different is they celebrate Thanksgiving on Oct 20 every year. They also celebrate this day called "Military Abolition Day".

They celebrate this to honor the fact that they don't have a miltary .

But they also celebrate New years eve, New years day, and Christmas on the same days as us. But, they do not do black Friday.

Traditions and the flavor of the holidays

On Christmas the Christmas tree is placed on their patios so everyone can see the tree. Also every year the have this thing called the Light Festival where they have a big parade and there are light everywhere.

Then on News Years they light up the skies with bright fireworks. The main foods that eat during the holidays is Tamales,Rompope, Queque, Navideno, Roast Pork, and Salsa. Every year there are big parties with friends and family to celebrate the holidays.

How Costa Rica celebrates holidays vs. how I celebrate holidays.

One of the main differences in the way they celebrate and the way I celebrate is that sometimes when they celebrate Thanksgiving it's in October! Another thing that they do that we don't is that they have a giant festival to celebrate Christmas.

Costa Rica celebrates one odd thing though. They celebrate the fact that they don't have any armed forces. Which is very different from the U.S. because we honor our armed forces. Another thing that is some what different is that during Christmas we eat turkey or ham but in Costa Rica they usually eat more spicy foods.
