Badminton was invented long ago and had a great history, as it was known as Poona (named after the garrison town of Poona city), where it first originated. Later in 1887, the duke of Beaufort took this sport to England from India, where it got its name after the Duke of Beaufort’s House in Gloucestershire.

Badminton is second only to soccer in its popularity. It is estimated that across the world over 220 million people play the sport. Also, badminton is the next most viewed sport in the world. During its first Olympics appearance, a staggering 1.1 billion tuned in to watch badminton.

On the other hand, Slams are close shots right above the net that goes straight down. This is also a difficult shot for the opponent to hit.
