Brian: I was in another room when you called. I didn't hear the phone ringing until it was too late.

Betty: What were you doing?​

Brian: I was cleaning the mess in my attic. What were you doing when you called me?

Betty: I was looking for Tom and couldn't find him. Do you know where he was?

Brian: Tom was on the plane. That’s why he wasn’t answering the phone.

Betty: Oh, I see. What did you do yesterday?

Brian: I had breakfast with my grandma in the morning. In the afternoon, I worked on an essay and was just finishing when you called. What did you do?

Betty: Well, at 9 I had a meeting with Ms. Parker. After that, I did some cleaning at my office.​

Brian: Sounds like a boring day!

Betty: Yes, I don't really like cleaning. But it needs to be done.

Brian: I agree with you on that. 

Betty: Tell me about the essay. What was it about?

Brian: It’s about society’s polarization in politics. Tom said it's very good, wanna read it?

Betty: Alright, send it to my email. I’m sure it’s good, every essay you write is excellent.

Brian: Thank you, Betty, you are always a good friend!

Clarice: Oh, hey Sweetie! Yes, I’m fine. I went to pay some bills downtown and my phone ran out of battery. Have you seen the new department store that just opened near that ice cream parlor we used to go on the weekends when you were a child?

Anna: I saw the advertisement. Has it already opened?

Clarice: Yeah, their opening was last Monday. I was passing by the shop windows and I went in to take a look at the bedding section.

Anna: Did you buy anything?

Clarice: No, but I’m planning to go back someday.

Anna: I wanna have a look too. We could go together next time and have some ice cream as well.

Clarice: Great idea, dear! It’s so hot, isn’t it? I’m thinking about cutting my hair short.

Anna: Really? I also want to cut mine.

Clarice: Oh honey, don’t do that, Your long hair is so beautiful.

Anna: I am beautiful, mom. I’m just adjusting my beauty to the weather.

Clarice: Alright, that’s true. But when you go, let’s go together.

Anna: Ok! Mom, I gotta hang up, bye!

Arnold: Hi baby, I couldn’t answer because I left my phone at the office while I had my car fixed at Johnson’s Garage.

Jessica: What was wrong with your car?​

Arnold: Well, a man crashed his car into mine.

Jessica: Gosh! Did you get hurt?

Arnold: No, honey. I wasn’t there at the time. My car was parked in front of the office and this guy lost control and crashed into the back of my car.

Jessica: Did he get hurt?

Arnold: No, he said he went to the hospital, but everything was fine.

Jessica: What about your car?

Arnold: Oh, with the car things were a little harder to take care of. The damage was pretty big.

Jessica: That’s bad. But did the man offer to help you?

Arnold: Yeah, he’s actually a pretty nice guy. He gave me his card, so I could take my car to the garage and send him all the bills.

Jessica: Good, that’s what I call an honest person!

Arnold: Right? The car is already fixed and we finished this situation in a friendly way.
