Is it ever justified to tell a lie?

This was a really difficult concept for the children to grasp as we tell them that telling lies is wrong. On speaking to some children later, they said that if a lie hurts someone, it shouldn't be told.

I liked the worship where the children were taught that Jesus performed a miracle and a lady actually walked again. I think this shows us and the children that miracles can happen in many situations of life and teaches us to always belief and keep strong.

Open the Book told us the story of when Jesus was born. The acting out of this story made me think about how much work Mary and Joseph had done in order to follow the instructions. This made me think about how I follow instructions and how I might questions what I was told to do.

Lying to make people feel better

I remember the collective worship on whether it is okay to tell a lie. It made me think differently about telling lies. Sometimes we can use a lie to bend the truth to benefit more people than just one, but that we have to be careful with telling a lie.

Completing a challenge

Reverent Lowdon came in to lead a collective worship on people being good at different things.

A selection of children were asked to come up to complete a challenge with a sense taken away, i.e. sight, hearing etc. It made me think about how everyone is different but be good at different things.

Celebration Collective Worship

I like celebration collective worship because we get to share our rewards with everyone and it is celebrated when we have done something well.

All unique and different

We learned about people being different in different ways and how it would be boring if we were all the same. Different people like different things. Everyone has different opinions on things. Tolerance and acceptance of others. We will speak to others even if they're not the same as us - including others.

Full House Theatre

Full House Theatre came in to talk to us about Greensands Ridge and how they have been working with children in the Greensands Ridge area. They showed us the identity boxes that children had made. They promoted Traveller Awareness month and they showed us the identity boxes and the plates that the children had made. This made us think about how travellers have lived and made me think, 'I didn't know that!'

I liked the story about people thinking Jesus was a bad man and taking attention away from the King. Jesus was put on the cross. He sacrificed his life for Christians. It makes me think about my ancestors and what they did for us like in the war.

Generosity - by the Leading Lights

When you gave him the banana skin, you were not being generous. You didn't share the part that can be used. That isn't being generous. You should have cut it in half - that would be generous. He was generous when he gave me part of the banana. Giving him the skin was actually being very unkind.

We like to do drama and poems and we wanted to make the worship all about generosity. We showed a play about someone being short of money in the shop and someone else helped them. Someone couldn't reach in the shop and a taller person helped them to reach. We also showed someone needing help to find something in the shop.

Open the Book Collective worship Governor visit

I observed the collective worship led by the Open the Book volunteers about the story of Jacob and the ladder. It highlighted that communication with God is possible and made the children think about how they can be a better version of themselves. I really enjoyed seeing how actively the children were actively involved in the assembly and worked together so maturely and confidently with the volunteers. The children's hope, wish, prayer & thanks reflected what they had seen and the Christian values of the School.

The Good Shepherd

In collective worship, we learned about Remembrance Day. Mrs Young told us a story about the good shepherd looking after his sheep when the wolf came. She said that the adults at school are like the good shepherd and that they look after us all of the time in school because they love us.

I love every Friday morning when the Reverend joins our assembly. He brings joy and always makes everyone smile with his music and songs. The children always interact with him.
