"The world's endin', Atticus! Please do something----!" I dragged him to the window and pointed. " No it's not," he said "it's snowing." (Lee 86).

Context: Scout and Jem wake up and think that the world is ending because it is snowing. They are scared because they have never seen snow.

Analysis
1) In this quote we learn something new about Scout, she has never seen snow, like most people in Maycomb. She had a funny reaction and he dad made sure she knew that the world was not ending, it was just snow.
2) This passage also explains the setting of the story. Since it is hot there they have never seen snows due to the setting of the story, Harper Lee was able to write this part in and add almost some comic relief to the story when it was getting heavy.

Scout asks whether Atticus saw Arthur Radley or not but they still think Arthur killed Mrs. Radley. Atticus only tells the kids that Mrs. Radley died of natural causes as he already knows there thoughts.

The ‘near libel’ that Jem put in the front yard was a snowman that was made to look like Mr. Avery. Atticus and Miss Maudie’s reactions are similar as it is obvious that they didn’t want Scout and Jem to be making snowmen to look like their neighbours. They both didn’t yell and scream at Scout and Jem as they understand that they are young kids who still have so much to learn about the world, including what is considered to be rude and not proper. Atticus takes an easy going approach to trying to teach them this lesson, and Miss Maudie was more stern with the Jem and Scout as her actions imply that she doesn’t want them to be mocking their neighbours either.

“Always wanted a smaller house, Jem Finch. Gives me more yard. Just think, I’ll have more room for my azaleas now!”
Context:
Miss Maudies's house just burned down. When Jem and scout talk to her about how everything is going and why she doesn't seem so sad, she says she has nothing to be sad about and that she would be happier in a new house anyways.
Analysis:
This passage shows that even though Miss Maudie did say she was happy about losing her house, she is a very strong character. It says in the novel that she had some valuable items to her in her house that were not all been able to be saved. And, she is going to be living with Miss Stephanie Crawford who she isn't so fond of. But through everything that happened all she cared about was how she had disrupted the neighborhood and everyone's sleep. She is showing such selfless actions. The next morning, she is still as upbeat and cheerful as ever.
