In the Lion King, Simba showed courage when facing his Uncle Scar.

The Theme is the main moral or lesson of the story. It teaches you a good life lesson to know. One theme is "Slow and Steady wins the Race" and it was from when the Tortoise beat the hare in a race in Tortoise and the Hare.

Topic and theme, A topic is an idea that the story is going to go with but it is not the overall main idea and is small. Another way to put it would be that the Topic is usually just one word and usually is used inside theme.
A theme is the whole overall idea and it is the idea that the author REALLY wants to get around to you and wants you to realize.
So overall the topic is the less important idea and it is usually put into the theme and the theme is a bigger idea and it usually uses the topic to back it's self up.
