What is the difference between a scientific theory and a hypothesis? A scientific theory is an explanation that unifies a broad range of ideas. A hypothesis is a proposed scientific explanation for a set of observations. So a scientific theory is based on multiple ideas, a hypothesis is based on observations.

List the 8 characteristics of all living things? Made up of units called cells, can reproduce, is based on a universal genetic code, grow and develop, obtain and use materials and energy (metabolism), respond to their environment (stimulus), Maintain a stable and internal environment (homeostasis), and changes over time.

List the 8 levels of biological organization, from smallest to largest? Molecules, cells, groups of cells, organism, population, ecosystem, biosphere.

What is the role of matter when it comes to maintaining the relationship between organisms and their environment? All living things have matter, that is how you can tell if something is a living organism, it will have matter. & matter also provides organisms with nutrients to survive.
