Children absorb information and skills better when they learn it the fun way through play rather then just explaining it to them. By bringing in play they learn faster and enjoy the process.

Example: teaching children the concept of patterning can be done by play as in making children continue or create patterns with each other or as a team.

Yes, In Early years play has to be part of our lesson to engage children in a fun and meaningful way. For example, for L& L to identify letters and words, I placed the word cards in the sensory box and asked them to hide inside as they sing the traditional song. The children are inquisitive to find the words.

1) Yes, “play” gives children the opportunity to be engaged in various activities in all domains.

2) A lesson on house keeping. The children pretend play at ‘home’ by cleaning. They used pail, brush, broom and more. They pretended to be a family and cleaned the house together after having dinner at home. Ayra was the mummy, she washed the dishes. Shuaib was the daddy, he swept the floor. Farrel, Mohamed and Asnadi was the child, they wiped the table. The children enjoyed playing housekeeping items and understood ways of keeping house clean. They also understood the importance of cleaning and the functions of each housekeeping items.

Yes, play can be part of the lesson. Children understands and learns better through play. Children are socially interactive and they are engaged actively.
Numeracy (Left/right). After learning about the left/right positions, children were paired into two and they asked their partners question such as 'What object is on the left/right side?' using the bear counters, unifix cubes and other objects they found in the classroom. Through this, children have better understanding about the topic.

1. Yes. As children play, they engage their imagination, develop social skills, take risks and learn problem-solving.

2. Using lego bricks(motor skills) to learn counting(numeracy) while building a house. Then the children do a show-and-tell(Language & Literacy) of their creations.

Yes, from problem solving to express great ideas, playing is crucial for every child's development.

Yes. ‘Play’ can be incooperated in lessons as it will enhance children’s cognitivity and improved their social emotional, numeracy. language and interaction skills with peers and adults.

Teachers may plan and facilitates an enjoyable activities / games that allows children to develop or reinforce knowledge and skills.

By using recycle materials such as milk cartons, plastic containers, shopping paper bags, tissue rolls, tissue boxes or plastic bottels etc, children as constructors of knowledge can create fun, enjoyable and imaginative play.

Children uses their imagination to relate the recycle materials based on theme or topic learnt in class such as being a cook, doctor, driver or teacher.

Certainly! Play can be seamlessly incorporated into our curriculum through various methods. Utilizing manipulatives as tangible tools to introduce or reinforce concepts, along with integrating games like bingo, facilitates multifaceted learning experiences for children. This approach not only fosters development across multiple domains but also instills motivation for exploring new knowledge in an enjoyable manner.

2) Share a “play” you conducted with your children

Activities such alphabet bingo, using manipulatives to teach numeracy concepts, I spy 'patterns' are amongst the activities I've conducted with my children.
