It took place during the High Renaissance and the Baroque period. The subject matter of my exhibition is the atmospheric perspective and the religious choices in the painting that were used during these time period.  From the ceilings to the walls, artist Michelangelo, Annibale Carracci, and Fra Andrea Pozzo all express visions of the religious in areas as the Church. Michelangelo worked on the ceiling however, he was more of a sculpture not a painter. It took him time to get back into learning painting. When it came to painting, Michelangelo worked from the entrance of the chapel to the Alter, but the biblical order was from the Alter to the Entrance. When working on the first half Michelangelo was built with scalloping which was blocking the images. There were more crowded than the ones that were getting closer to the alter. The ceiling as well had spandrel an architectural feature that Michelangelo as well used.

It was commissioned by the Cardinal Odoardo Farnefe, the Pope III’s nephew to decorate the new manner. The subject matter of the artwork was based on the Greek and roman mythology where in the painting were encounters among the Gods. It is like the Sistine Chapel of Michelangelo however, instead of having the architectural shape, each painting has their own decorative frames. Along the frames there are more separate that have their own internal lighting scheme. When looking up at the ceiling it gives an illusion that when looking up Heavens. It looks so real, there is a transition from the stone structure to the painting. There are figures like the angels, the baby and the other humans give the illusion that its coming out of the painting. The subject matter of the artwork was to give the idea of a heaven miracle. It was done to reclaim catholic faith from the protestants. It was a reminder to the belief of the catholic.
