India growing results in overcrowding, pollution, inadequate infrastructure and loss of open space. Poor people are generally unable to find affordable housing near places of work and have settled in slums in open areas such as along railway lines or in informal settlements scattered across the city.

They have to walk 10 km everyday to get water that is not even really safe to drink and infact they could even get sick from it. The people that mainly walk for water are women and children.

What was the problem?

  • Poor water, inadequate sanitation (the development and application of sanitary measures for the sake of cleanliness, protecting health, etc.) and a lack of safe drinking water cause diarrhoea, dengue fever, malaria, and eye and skin diseases.

How they fix it?
  • People contributed to a goal of money to fix all the problems and they are still working on it.
