Through working at a community pharmacy, I have realized how important it is for a pharmacist to be knowledgeable in this area. On many occasions, I have encountered patients coming to the pharmacy with an infection and asking the pharmacist as to what they can do about it. The pharmacist is expected to recognize an infection and recommend that the patient sees a doctor and also counsel the patient on the antimicrobial that the patient is put on. What I hope to take away from this course is being able to identify common infections and treatments for them.
