Toscana and Arridi have been at war several times over products that each country has. Arridi needs cotton and livestock while Toscana really likes the Arridi coffee. Chapter 2- Horace was given a fact finding mission to learn about Nihon-Ja´s military tactics and the way of their swordsmanship. At the end of the  chapter Shigeru, the emperor and Horace go to the island Iwanai to relax. Chapter 3. The military demonstration continued with Will, Halt, and Selethen. The Araluens were also given a mission to learn about the Toscanan military tactics.
Chapter 4- Horace, George, Emperor Shigeru, his cousin Shukin and a dozen loyal senshi escorted the emperor to the island of Iwanai. On the way there they have learned that there has been a revolt against the the Emperor. Chapter 5- The men learn of the two clans against them. As George, Horace and Shukin went down the trail to search for the loyal senshi they were attacked and George was hit in the forearm by an arrow sent by an attacking scouting force.
Chapter 7- Evanlyn had showed up to tell Alyss, Will, Halt and Selethen that Horace had gone missing in Nihon-Ja. The message had come from George.
Chapter 8- Horace had wanted to stay in Nihon-Ja to keep the emperor on his throne but George objectified to the idea saying Araluens have no right to interfere in Nihon-Jan politics. George had gone back to Araluen but Horace had stayed.
Chapter 9- Will, Halt, Alyss and Evanlyn had gone to Nihon-Ja in search of Horace. Alyss had to come along has she had been studying the foreign language. Selethen had decided to come as well.
Chapter 10- Horace, Emperor Shigeru, Shukin and the loyal senshi began to go further up the trail. Halt with major seasickness didn't´ like the trip at all. The Araluens learned of a new ship design.
Chapter 12- The Kikori welcomed the emperor and treated him with hospitality and taken away with the senshis kindness. The Emperor would meet 20 new people that day and Shigeru was even invited to the elders cabin.
Chapter 13- The Arualuens aboard ¨Wolfwill¨ and the owners of the boat, Gundar had gotten to a channel where they had to row because the wind was against them. They had to row through the channel because tacking would have been very awkward.
Chapter 14- Shigeru had gotten a guide to Kawagishi a riverside village and the kikori to fight against Arisaka with him. A feast was prepared and the morning came along for everybody to go to Kawagishi. On the way there Horace had questioned the meaning of his name the Nihon-Ja had given him. Kurokuma. Once they arrived they had seen injured senshi from Arisakas attack on Ito.
Chapter 15- People were preparing to attack Gundars ship but did it poorly as the blokade made to stop an unsuspecting ship wasn't hidden all too well. The attack wasn't´ much of an attack as only one of the arrows fired from the shortbows of the enemy had hit the ship and not even any of its crew. The two rangers had shot the two enemies farthest from them to show the attackers they need to leave. An enemy scouting party was found consisting of 12 men.
Chapter 17- Alyss and Evanlyn were practicing their fencing skills which had led to an actual fight. Halt suggested to put the fencing lessons on hold after yelling at them as such a high volume even the Skandians were surprised by it and yelling is a skill they possess.
Chapter 18- A party of Arisakas senshi had ridden up to Kawagishi but the village was empty. The senshi had threatened to burn it down but the village ender had come down and coward before the lead senshi but it was no elder it was a senshi himself and had killed the leadman along with 30 other men that had run out of the forest and killed the scouting party.
Chapter 19- They men had seen a ship far out but so long as the wind keeps its pace they and their small crew will outrun the bigger terror. The bigger had caught up but lost the fight badly damaged as intended.
Chapter 20- The group continued growing in their numbers as the days went past. Evanlyn had made it her goal to find Horace.
Chapter 22- Shukin found a good spot for his plan midday. Shukin will take 6 of the best warriors to a ford to hold off Arisakas men for as long as they can. Only 2v2 at a time because attacking a man 2 on 1 will bring you dishonor as it is not fair. Shukin was killed by Arisaka himself.
Chapter 23- The Araluens and the Skandians have been docked for hours now at the island of Iwanai. 4 Senshi had come aboard to collect the harbor fees and went along. The Araluens had to find a tavern to stay at and where they might find their informant, Atsu. They made it to the tavern and took and seen the hot springs.
Chapter 24- Shigeru's men had reached a footbridge made of rope and planks where a scouting party had arrived and attacked. Everybody had made it across except for Horace who had stayed to fight them. He wrapped a rope around his waist and men held it around a tree, in the middle of the fight Horace had order that the bridge be cut down so Arisaka has to take a massive detour. Once the bridge was cut Horace fell and two of his rips cracked under his weight on the rope. The scouting party died.
Chapter 25-  The Araluens had stayed at the tavern when two senshi had arrived and asked the Araluens why they were at the tavern but they gave no response. The senshi, irritated, had simply left. The Araluens bathed and ate but they were not accustomed to sitting on the floor like the Nihon-Ja did. They had both awoken eachother out of jokes and when Will was awoken he heard a sound of somebody creeping up the stairs. Will alerted Halt but then later learned that it was the informant who moved in the cover of night.
Chapter 27- Horace and the others were near the end of their journey but they hadn't known. They found Ran-Koshi, the ancient fortress. It was nothing but a rotting wooden palisade  and a few huts, the fortress itself was not built, it was natural. Horace sent a few men to find a secret path out of the natural stone fortress made from a dent in the mountain.
Chapter 28- The Wolfwill had left Iwanai 4 days ago to Ran-Koshi. THey had made it to the coast and they knew somewhere, not far, laid the fortress. The Araluens had set up camp when the Skandians had gone to an island not fair ashore. When camp was set up, not long after, a scouting party of men came out of the trees and captured Halt, Will, Alyss, Evanlyn and Atsu.
Chapter 29-  Mikeru and his team had found the path and named it Mikerus pass. One of the Kikori had said they captured 5 spies.
Chapter 30- The kikori informed Horace of the five spies and the details of them being foreigners and telling why they are here. Alyss, Evanlyn, Will and Halt had all been happy to see Horace as he ordered to let them go. They would create a landslide out of rocks and timber to crush the trapped force.
Chapter 32- Evanlyn had the idea of calling upon a tribe of people of the opposite side of Mizu-Umi Bakudai. A huge lake. The Hasanu. They asked the kikori to make a kayak so they go across the lake and ask the leader of the Hasanu. A party of 100 of Arisaka men had arrived to Ran-Koshi.
Chapter 33-  The attacking party arrived then the kikori had started to throw rocks at them slowing them down tremendously. The attackers tried to climb the ramparts before charging the weaker side of the palisade and walking into the trap. Only just before they had realized they were in a trap the avalanche fell and killed the trapped attackers.
Chapter 34- Alyss and Evanlyn had their kayak and had to get it down the mountain. The kikori had assembled a plan to get it down via a long rope system. The kayak had folded down via releasing pins and it simply folded with the oilskin cover around its skeleton. Halt had decided to let the girls go tomorrow.
Chapter 35- Selethen had been training the kikori and decided to do yet again, another demonstrations to Halt, Will and Horace. Issho Ni was shouted as it means together. The way the kikori were taught to fight. The two girls and a guide had made it to the lake where the guide had put the girls in the boat and pushed them off.
Chapter 37- Horace had seen Selethens training moving well when Shigeru's retinue had brought him a message to see Shigeru in his cabin. Horace had eaten a meal with the Emperor and then at the end of the meal the Emperor had given Horace a new sword as his had fallen in the ravine when the rope bridge was cut. It was made out of the Nihon-Ja tempered steel, way stronger then the Araluen steel and even had decoration but still an exact replica of his old one.
Chapter 38- The girls had made it to the first island with cramps and aches in their arms and backs and an uneventful night. The second island they had arrived to cold, wet, tired and aching, they set up camp when in the middle of the night they herd wolves. They kept fueling the fire to keep them away and eventually made it to the boat to sleep for the night. They got their gear early in the morning and headed for the next island.
Chapter 39- Mikeru had done well once again and found a lookout and took Halt and Will to it. They could see an Arisaka encampment of only 100-150 men and right then and there had decided to launch an attack.
Chapter 40- Alyss and Evanlyn had made it to the land of the Hasanu people and Alyss had gone offshore to keep from scaring any possible friends to come up to their camp. Evanlyn had recalled that the Hasanu loved sweets so she took out some dried fruit that the Nihon-Ja had liked and started to eat some but leaving some aside on the log where she was sitting to let any passerby eat and join her. Eventually one had come.

A speech had been given by Will in which raised the KIkoris spirits as the shouted ¨Chocho,¨ a name of great respect given to Will.
Chapter 42- Evanlyn´s passerby had finally emerged. When he had emerged she saw his slender figure of about 2 1/2 meters tall. Alyss had come ashore and talked with the gentle giant and asked to be taken to Lord Nimatsu. Ruler of the Hasanu people.
Chapter 43- Getting the 100 men down Mikerus pass was quite a challenge. They had sat outside the enemies camp relaxed and on the ground with all their equipment at the ready when desired. Some of the Kikori women had given out bread and fish to the waiting soldiers. Once they had began the Kikori, as one unit had destroyed the opposing force and even sent the retreating. Something the Nihon-Jan senshi rarely consider.
Chapter 44- Nimatsu had refused the order because he knew his men would refuse to follow. The forest they had to go through to get to Nihon-Ja, the Uto Forest, it believed to be haunted by a demon. Alyss and Evanlyn believe they are going to kill it.
Chapter 45-  General Todoki, under Arisaka, had ordered the retreating men to stop running and fight. This, of course, was very stupid and had gotten almost every soldier killed. Evanlyn was on watch when the sun rose, as it did it shine shone on the pool of blood that the pig was laying in. Whatever it was it was silent and smart as it had killed to the pig, not for food, but to keep it from raising alarm. It was a big cat judging by the prints it had left behind.
Chapter 47- Halt had said, in the heat of the next battle, they would lose many more men then they had. With only 6 dead, and a dozen wounded, 4 badly. They had captured over 70 swords and armor sets to help in the next fight and the steel from the swords to make more gear such as the shields and javelins. Halt had introduced a new weapon to Mikeru, a atlatl, a weapon that launched projectiles similar to a bow but it had no string, instead it had a single notch and divot for which it laid upon. As the the user reeled back his arm for a throw the dart like weapon the wooden piece had acted a lever which pushed the projectile with extra force sending farther then a man with a spear ever could.
Chapter 48- Alyss had devised a plan to kill this large snow beast. She has a shield for which she used to protect her front and a tree at her back with two spears stabbed into the ground. The beast had com onto her left and pounced onto the shield and with Alyss underneath Evanlyn had hit it with her sling shot multiple times, the lead projectiles had crushed the bones it hit. Once incapacitated, Alyss had taken out her blade and cut the beasts stomach open. As it cried its final cry, it had died.
Chapter 49- When daylight came, the girls had drug the Kyofus body back to Nimatsus castle to show the Hisanu the monstrous snow tiger was dead and Uto Forest was now safe. Evanlyn, the princess of Araluen, had decided she wanted to marry Horace.
Chapter 50- Halt had decided to take on Arisakas main force with 200 men before reinforcements arrived. They had set up  defenses similar to palisades on a slope to keep the enemy from flanking from the left, any attempt to do so would result in heavy casualty. Men had attacked the shield wall with battering rams, slightly effective but its pilots were very vulnerable while doing so, so they didn't make it very far though they did get to hit the wall and take a few of its men with it, a very little amount of times. The reinforcements had arrived, the soldiers of Yamada.
52- As the reinforcements arrived Will started to become frustrated and had the javelin throwers take down as many men as they could with two volleys. Arisaka had started a lie saying that Shigeru was actually, not Shigeru, and that Shigeru was actaully dead. Arisaka had called the Emperor by his name and turned every one of his men against him. Will was on the front line when Arisaka attacked him. Will drew his throwing knife and aimed at his target and it made its mark. The weight of the blade behind it made Arisakas head jerk back. Just as quickly as he felt blood from the wound, he felt, nothing.
Chapter 53- Farewells have been said, except for Horace who has grown close to Shigeru. The small emperor had now considered Horace a son. Horace, growing an orphan, had felt strong emotion to this man and that statement. He had cried when he boarded the ship to leave man and the country. Shigeru had given him a scroll, a painting that he made for Horace. It was an amazing picture of a bear catching salmon from a waterfall. A Kurokuma. Horace had nothing to give the Emperor. Shigeru said he had been given his country back. Horace boarded the ship. and left Nihon-Ja. Along with his new father. The Emperor of Nihon-Ja.
