Words usually combine together to
create one idea. For example: go to the store, have a cup of tea. These thought groups are usually grammatically connected: verb + preposition + noun (apply for a program)

If you speak the words separately,
you don’t express the idea that the thought group expresses. When you speak, you must take short breaks between thought groups so that your listeners can follow what you want to express.
