They helped me see my world so much more clearly, make decisions that were right for me and my family and be comfortable with the tradeoffs. That has fed into my ongoing work in coaching and developing other employees in GE, and in raising my children. The effect ripples.

As I enter my 4th year of retirement, I will tell you I don't miss the workaday world for 1 minute. True, it took a couple months to "leave" it (postpartum depression? :), but in spite of weekly requests to drag me back in, I find it's becoming easier to say no thanks. So, with all your initiative, drive, motivation, intellect, I'm sure you'll soon be saying (as always do): "I'm busier now than when I was working"!

You could always take up fishing - I presume Jim's taught you how to bait a hook?

I had just called you, as a first rotation CLP (it was TSP waaaayyy back then) and told you I was expecting my first child. And you very excitedly told me not to worry, this was so doable. Not only did I take those words to heart, but I have shared them with many women over the years.

The are so many things I can thank you for... hiring me, talking me off the ledge, encouraging words, but what I admire and want to thank you for the most was having the vision and courage to do things differently and to show us that we can be authentic, effective, and bad a** at the same time. That we didn't have to give up ourselves or our femininity and we didn't have to conform. You were so far ahead of the game as far as horizontal and authentic leadership.

Leadership Practices was such a break through for me in my leadership journey as it was for the women you worked with in Nigeria and so many more all over the world. You have left a legacy that we'll continue to share with the folks that come behind us.
