Love is obviously the emotion love while NORMa is "love's" last sense of NORMality. Possibly she tried to leave him or found someone else which probably affected him in a way that changed who he was and ended up killing Norma out of the fact that she found someone else and he couldn't see his life without her

After he got the news of his true love being dead he probably went crazy. He lost all humanity. It's like a switch in him just turned off. And instead of being reminded that she's dead. He tells himself "I'll find her someday soon". Kills other women as they reminded him of Norma. Until they tell him they aren't Norma and kills them and moves onto the next victim and the cycle continues. He's mentally not there (CRAZY) as he probably does it to make his pain of Norma's actual death less painful.
