“In a 2014 survey by the American College Health Association, 54 percent of college students surveyed said that they had “felt overwhelming anxiety” in the past 12 months, up from 49 percent in the same survey just five years earlier. Students seem to be reporting more emotional crises...” (Lukianoff and Haidt). This quote can be attached to my essay 2 as a force on why young women (and men) seek quick money by doing online sex work. Many of the online sex workers are possibly students and one of the reasons they can be doing what they do could be because of the increase in mental health and contributors such as anxiety and stress from the possible lack of financial stability.

...this era of high joblessness will likely change the life course and character of a generation of young adults—and quite possibly those of the children behind them as well. It will leave an indelible imprint ...It could change the nature of modern marriage... It may already be plunging many inner cities into a kind of despair and dysfunction not seen for decades. Ultimately, it is likely to warp our politics, our culture, and the character of our society for years." - Peck interviewed economic historians to better understand how the previous recessions affected the nation and the recovery period. He concluded that weak periods affect society in the future.

"The children succeeded their fathers, and ignorant of the changes of fortune, having never experienced its reverses, and indisposed to remain content with this civil equality, they in turn gave themselves up to cupidity, ambition, libertinage, and violence, and soon caused the aristocratic government to degenerate into an oligarchic tyranny, regardless of all civil rights."- Machiavelli made a good point when he had figured out how people feel, will result in drives or falls of government while also inviting corrupt foreign powers to influence leaders and only benefit leaders at the top.

"The current generation of adolescent girls-and their parents, bred an old expectations about women's interests-are active conspirators in limiting their own intellectual development." The reason why girls were not taking Math and Science classes was because their parents had old fashioned views about their daughters' careers. Another force can be that since they are in a vulnerable mid-adolescent time they are influenced to believe "that math and science are "masculine" subjects."

"But right at the point when opportunity is offered, it is being threatened by severe budget cuts in education and social services. For several years, the college—like so many in the United States—has been able to offer only a small number of summer classes, and classes are being cut during the year. Enrollment in existing classes is growing. Student-support services are scaled back.". Students who want to learn have the opportunity taken away from them due to budget cuts in education. In turn, this can cause economic consequences.
