The Iconic London Bridge has a very interesting and fascinating history. The London Bridge we all know now actually originated from a completely different structure and built by the romans neary 2000 years ago. It later slowly evolved and got restructured
many times through-out the years later being built is stone by Peter Colechurch in 1176. The bridge had to be torn down again.

A new London bridge made of granite was built in 1831 along side Peter Colechurch's destroyed stone one. It stood for over a century however even this wasn't enough because as it grew popular the amount of traffic was too much to bare and it caused the bridge to sink which may have started the well-known nursery rhyme 'London bridge is falling down'. This bridge was dismantled sold and shipped to an American man in Arizona. As the bridge was being dismantled, England decided to reconstruct the new bridge around 1970 and that is the bridge that we now know today.

A bridge in London located over the River Thames, between the City of London and Southwark. It is situated between Cannon Street Railway Bridge and Tower Bridge which also forms the western end of the Pool of London. There are various ways of traveling to the London bridge. Three most common methods are via the tube, bus or car. If you go via the tube, the Jubilee line takes you directly to the “London Bridge stop” which is roughly 6 minutes from Westminster.

The current London Bridge was designed by architect Lord Holford and engineers Mott, Hay and Anderson.
The current crossing, which opened to traffic in 1973, is a box girder bridge built from concrete and steel. It replaced a 19th-century stone-arched bridge, which in turn superseded a 600-year-old stone-built medieval structure. This was preceded by a succession of timber bridges, the first of which was built by the Roman founders of London.
