         <description><![CDATA[<p>The central idea of "Excerpt from Lydia Darragh's Secret Mission" is that Lydia's bravery helped to strengthened the American army. In the text, it states "When the British arrived at White Marsh, General Howe found  American troops armed with cannons. Clearly, someone had warned them." This quote shows that, due to Lydia warning General Washington gave them an advantage when the British came. Another example from the text, "Lydia spent the next few days fearing for Charles's safety" This quote also shows that even though Lydia did warn them, she did not know what happened after, and feared for her son's life. In conclusion,  The central idea of "Excerpt from Lydia Darragh's Secret Mission" is that Lydia's bravery helped to strengthened the American army. </p>]]></description>

In</a> the text the Author states." When the British arrived at the White Marsh, General Howe found the American troupes armed with cannons. Clearly, someone had warned them. In a cold fury, Howe ordered his troops to return to Philadelphia. This example that the author provided in the text shows that she was brave and risked her life for the betterment of the American side of the war. Another example from the text is "The next day, she plotted a secret mission to warn General Washington. It would be an act of high treason, punishable by death if she was caught. So Lydia decided to act alone without telling her family. She would not risk their lives.</p><p>This next piece of evidence shows how she was brave in trying to help the Americans by trying to tell them valuable information knowing she could possibly die. I say this because in the text it states, "she spotted an American officer and she recognized him as a friend, Captain Charles Craig. Lydia told him about the British plan. Captain Craig had thanked her and then he had raced to headquarters." This shows how she was spying on the British soldiers. Another piece of evidence states, " When the British arrived at White Marsh, General Howe found the American troops armed with cannons." This piece of evidence shows that the  Americans were very prepared before the British came to attack.
