Career Plan: Becoming a Mortician ⚰️

1. Define your career goal
My career goal is to be a mortician, and possibly later on a proud owner and Funeral Director of my own Funeral Home.

2. Identify career requirements
In order to be a mortician, you must get your associates degree in Mortuary Science, complete 1-2 years of apprenticeship, and complete your National Board Exam.

3. Evaluate your accomplishments, skills, & interests
My grades are good, and I have a 3.6 GPA. Not only that but I also am in the A+ program.

4. Identify possible obstacles
Most of the time, if you do not have any family members in the Funeral Industry then your chances of finding a funeral home to work for are even that much slimmer.

5. Determine steps to reach your career goal
I found a funeral home less than a mile away from my house, I will be trying to get an internship or just volunteer there. Upon completeing the requirements for the A+ program, and graduating High School, I will be going to MCC for free. Afterwards I will go into my apprenticeship to be a mortician (taking my state exam when needed), at the same time attending cosmetology college. Thus afterwards I will be set to be what I'd like to think of as "THE WORLD'S GREATEST MORTICIAN".

Did the teacher use any technology? If so, how?
Yes the teacher ensured students were using technology to complete Plato assignments and used the projector often to walk though assignments.

● Interactive whiteboards
The teacher had written her name on the board along with vocabulary for the class to remember to aid with their assignments.

● Communicating through technology (Google classroom, Canvas, Apple
classroom)
Teacher offered to use email to contact others, however sites such as Google Classroom was not used.

● Technology based activities
The teacher had the class observe what the projector was projecting and usually share their answers.

● Technology problems (Were there any technology problems? How did the teacher
handle those problems?)
No technology problems happened during the duration of the period.

● Research activities (WebQuests)
No research activities happened during the duration during the period.

● Visuals and sounds
Teacher played music for the students enjoyment to break silence of the room. Also, the teacher played sound clips of a man speaking in Spanish to help guide a student through their assignment.

● Social networking
No social networking was used during the duration of the period.

● Games and simulations
The teacher had no games planned for the duration of the period.

● How is the teachers classroom arranged? In your opinion, is the arrangement
conducive to learning? Why or why not?
All students could see the white board which is helpful, the classroom was hard to maneuver through.

● Are there classroom rules &/or procedures posted somewhere in the room?
No classroom rules were posted in the classroom, along with no safety protocol for situations such as fires and tornados were posted in easy sight for all to see.

● Is the classroom inviting? How so? If not, why?
The classroom was awkward and quiet. I felt packed in even with only a handful of students in the classroom at the time.

● Is the classroom a place where learning can take place? How so? If not, why?
The classroom is defiantly a place where learning can take place, however it is rather hard to focus in this classroom.

● Positive relationships between teacher and students and students amongst each
other
The teacher had normal conversations with her students as though talking to a friend, she would guide them through work and help them out as much as she could.

● Student involvement
The students would talk without raising their hand, which showed comfort and confidence in their teacher.

● Was the lesson engaging? Was everyone on track, paying attention?
No serious lesson had taken place due to the little amount of students in her classroom at the time.

● Effective use of classroom time (Was there any down time?)
Most of the hour was downtime due to the few students in her classroom at the time.

● Recognizing success
The teacher did not show or give out much rewards except for a positive attitude to the student when she had gotten a question correct.

● How does the teacher manage student behavior? Is their management style
effective? Why or why not?
The teacher was quick to address students who were rude or disrespectful.

● Was there consistency in how the teacher dealt with each student?
Yes absolutely, the teacher did not sugar coat how she would deal with the students when they were out of line no matter who the student was.
