The author wants the viewer’s attention. If they aren’t going to remember anything, the creator wants individuals to rememberer these words. Some include “America”, “will”, and the phrase “Unless Castro is destroyed”. These are the most important words to emphasize to the viewers because the word “America” symbolizes something that the viewer is a part of. Having emphasized the word “will” is to demonstrate that the there is no hesitation in Castro’s actions, which can also be associated with the statement “Unless Castro is destroyed”. This also shows viewers that there is no other options. Also, the words previously mentioned are underlined in red. Not only does this add an extra emphasis, but the color red send viewers a message most may not think of. Subconsciously, viewers associate this color with danger, so when they see the poster, that is immediately what comes to mind. It is also important to note the thickness of the lines. Instead of being skinny and indistinguishable, they are think and less discreet. The central theme I am using is their slogan, "A family company." This slogan was formulated back in 1998 by Helen Johnson Leipold, she is the daughter to the founder's son named Samuel C. Johnson. The thought came to mind because the company was founded on influential local ethics which afforded and encouraged the aid of families. Thus, the slogan was born. When the new slogan was aired on television, society was given a new aspect of SC Johnston as they were being propagandistic by displaying their ideology and ethics. During this time, Adolf Hitler, a German Nazi, was terrorizing all of Europe, attempting to wipe out any person who was not apart of the Aryan race, as they were not a part of the superior race. Millions of Europeans and the rest of the world feared Hitler, so the United States decided to fight the Nazis and stop their ideals and terrorism from spreading. Propagandist posters like this one were posted across America in order to encourage citizens to purchase war bonds. Significant themes depicted in this World War ll propaganda poster include evoking fear in US citizens, boosting moral for troops, and helping protect children and their families.

  • The utilization of the company slogan is an excellent way for SC Johnson to bestow their consumers what variety of ethics SC Johnston operates on. Many times, when composing the association with a family or loved ones, people become exceedingly accessible and willing to interact. 
  • Additionally, when further examining SC Johnston's goals internally, I discovered a more profound definition than the simple comparison with the family. In the day and age, we live in now, everybody is so concentrated on producing an image for others to examine, whether this is the authentic them or just a physical narrative of their mind. SC Johnston desired to hop on the bandwagon and allow their product to make a statement. 
  • SC Johnston is recognized for the humbling content they advertise with. On the piece I am examining I couldn't help but notice the pressure in place that is full of emotions and thoughts, being forced into our mind from such a simple model.
