When written in Chinese, the word "crisis" is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity.

Think of a problem you have experienced. Which part offered you an opportunity? Which part seemed dangerous?

After getting certified to teach, I was so excited to find a job with a classroom of my own. I had just finished student teaching and it went very well. The kids learned a lot, I learned a lot, and I got a great grade on the experience. I was ready to go.
I started applying for jobs, but not much happened. I re-tooled my resume and kept trying, but still, nothing happened. I started to get a few calls and eventually ended up as a substitute, long-term, for Mechanicsburg. I spent a year there and my experience was great. But after it was over, a job opening came open but I didn't even get an interview. I was crushed and depressed. How could a school who liked me so much they hired me for three separate long-term substitute positions, not hire me when there was a permanent job opened?

I was a depressed as I've ever been. But just as I was ready to give up, I heard about a position at Harrisburg Academy. I interviewed and it was much different than any of the other interviews I had ever been on. They seemed to want to get to know ME. They didn't just ask me a bunch of questions from a form, as other schools did. They cared about how I related to the students. We hit it off and they hired me, and it's been the best job I ever had.
The point of all this is to say that the fact that I didn't get an interview from Mechanicsburg turned out to be a good thing. If I had gotten that job, I wouldn't be here right now, in the happiest place of my life. So sometimes life gives you lemons, but if you're patient, someone might come along and help you turn those lemons into LEMONADE!

Something that I felt dangerous doing was riding Great Bear at Hershey Park, because they have a net under part of the coaster that if someones shoe falls off it won't hit someone in the head .
The reason this scared me is, because it goes upside down. I hate going up side down in mid air. I was also worried that my shoe was going to fall into the water, because it was so lose when I got on the roller coaster.

I Got an opportunity to try to play up a level in soccer, because they changed the rules about secondary players. So all the teams in U13 dropped out except for my team so we are playing U14 this Fall and Spring.
The reason this scares me is, because we are a new team and some of the kids are 11 years old and we play 14 year old's. The size difference scares me because the smaller kids could get hurt even more then the older kids on our team.
Part of the team has played with each other since we were five years old. so we know how each other work on the field. But for the new kids they don't know how we work and they get lost.
We also play with eleven people on the field instead of eight, because the field we play on are bigger.

Something dangerous that happened in my life was when my house was robed. My family had just pick me up from gymnastics and when we got home we head the fridge making noise. So my mom went down stairs and closed the fridge but when she was coming up she heard someone talking. So then my dad went down the stairs and yelled into the basement and nobody answered. The my dad said get out of the house, so we got out of the house and went to out neigbors house and the calls the police and they came. The people that where in the house had lift by the time the police got there. They were trying to take the safe that we had down in our basement, but they did not get the safe in time. So the came and they went through the entire house and they final left at 1:00 in the morning. This changed my life in good ways and bad ways. Good because I am not scared of most things i was before and I more careful around my surroundings. But in a bad way I am still a little scared to go in the basement at night.

Something that I felt dangerous doing was riding Skyrush, at Hersheypark because of the big drop. The drop is about 85-90 feet drop and the lap bar didn't feel safe.

The opportunity was when my cousin Taylor made get on Sky Rush. Taylor begged me the whole day at Hersheypark so at dinner I finally gave up with saying no and said yes but I would only go on it at night so I wouldn’t see where I was going.(But I could still see the tracks) So that night before we left Hersheypark I went on Skyrush. It was fun. The best part was screaming my head off with my other cousin Morgan. It was also Morgan's first time getting on Skyrush. (She was technically not tall enough to ride but the workers weren't paying much attention.)

During the ride I screamed for the first part then for the second part I didn't scream at all I was just laughing at Morgan because she was holding on to my dad's arm still screaming at the top of her lungs. Once the ride was over the first thing I said was "Could we go again." The second time I went on Sky Rush we got to sneak Aidan on.(The workers still weren’t paying much attention) I had so much fun on Skyrush that now it is a tradition that we have to go on it at night. We can also go on it during the day as long as we do it again at night. So that night three people in my family tried Skyrush for the first time and we all loved it.

Robbery

One of the most scariest day of my life was when my house was robbed. My family had just picked me up from gymnastics. We rode home and it was just regular evening. At our house we have a alarm system, but we really never put in on when my parent come and pick me up for gymnastics. When we got home my mom heard the fridge down stairs make the sound that it make when it is open for too long. So my mom when half way down the stair heard voice. She come back up and told my dad and my dad went down stair with a phone like it was going to protect him if anything dangerous came towards him. Then he run up stair and tolled use to get out of the house. So I ran to my neighbors house and my parent just had dinner with them. When we were in they house we called the police. They came and they did not have any of the light on or sirens because they did not want to scare the robber away. When they got in the house they were already gone. They had tried to take the safe but it was too heavy for them to carry. So they got away with nothing. The police were in the house till 1:00 in the morning checking the house for fingerprints. I had decided to sleepover at the neighbor's house because I did not felt comfortable sleeping at my house that night.

This experience has changed me in so many ways. Now at night I do not want to go in the basement by myself and we added security cameras in the basement and outside. We always close the basement door and lock it. And I am now more careful of the people around me and my surroundings. After the robbery the police had not found the people for another full year! Once they did find them my dad had to go to a trail for the last guy who would not say that he was apart of the group that had robbed lots of houses. When my dad was there he learn that this group of people had robbed people in other states. This was a great experience and dad experience and has changed me in many ways.

Computers

When i was 4th grade i was working on a project that was assigned during class earlier that day in computer class. The project was about a timeline of my life. My project started with a picture of my first birthday and the project ended with a picture of my going to a Pittsburgh Steelers game, early that year. As i was going to save my work on my computer the most unexpected thing happened. My computer glitched and all of my work was lost. Then after a couple of minutes of being mad at my computer. I redid the whole thing from scratch. After i was done doing my work again i went to go save it. Then right on cue it glitched. So then i was really mad because i had to do the project for a third time. Before i started the project for a 3rd time i prayed. Then i started it for the 3rd time. As i was about half way trew the project my computer died. I thought it was just my battery that died so i plugged it in. Then i found out that it wasn’t my computer's battery that died it was my computer it self. My said that i could use her work computer to work on my project for the 4th time. I then told her it was not a good idea to work on my project on her computer because i might break it. She said the i would not break it and that it was just my computer was old. So then i was just about to start working on the project again when my mom told me it was time to go to bed. She said that she would Email my teacher and tell her what had happened. Later that week my dad took me to Best Buy so we could get a new computer for me to use. Later that day my dad showed me a computer online. I told him that i liked that computer. Then my dad said “well that's good because i already bought it ”. Wance i got my new computer i finished my project for good. If you were to fast forward time 3 years that new computer is chipped a little and broken.
