         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>I can begin to understand important motivation and emotion terms.</em><br><strong>Motivation:</strong> A need or desire that directs behavior.<br><strong>Incentive Theory:</strong> Positive or negative environmental stimuli that motivate behavior. (Physiological vs. Psychological)<br><strong>Drive Reduction Theory: </strong>A physical need creates a drive to satisfy the need.<br><strong>Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs</strong>: Pyramid of human needs, each need must be met successfully to move up. Ends with self-actualization.<br>Hunger Drive: Both internal and external reasons for hunger, can cause Anorexia, Bulimia, and Obesity.<br>Thirst Drive: Reduction of fluid in and outside of cell caused by sodium.<br>Sexual Response Cycle: Four stages of sexual responding<br>Need to Belong: Harlow, we need people, we have a need for acceptance, we will change our actions to fit in with certain groups.<br>Achievement Motivation: Desire for significant accomplishment, includes intrinsic and extrinsic.<br>Task vs. Social: task focuses on goals and sets standards. social builds teamwork.<br>Theory X vs. Theory Y: X is constant monitoring of workers. Y is intrinsic motivation with shared control.<br>Conflict Motivation: Sometimes what you want to do in a situation is clear, but other times you find yourself conflicted.<br>Approach-approach conflict: occurs when you must choose between two desirable outcomes.<br>Avoidance-avoidance conflict: occurs when you must choose between two unattractive outcomes.<br>Approach- Avoidance conflict: Exists when one event or goal has both attractive and unattractive features.<br>Multiple approach-avoidance conflict: Exists when two or more things have both desirable and undesirable features.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>I can begin to understand important motivation and emotion term theories.<br>James Lane Theory: The arousal Comes before the emotion. (Stimulus---&gt; Physical Change----&gt; Emotion).<br>Cannon-Bard Theory: The arousal comes at the same time as the emotion. (stimulus ---&gt; emotion and physical change).<br>Schachter-Singer Theory: Arousal paired with a cognitive label, then the emotion. (Stimulus ---&gt; Cognitive Label or Physical Change---&gt; Emotion).<br>Opponent Process Theory: Emotions are in pairs (fear &amp; relief)(pleasure &amp; pain) (depression &amp; elation).</em></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I can be prepared to decide which term you want for motivation madness.<br>Izard Theory: 10 Basic emotions, cross-cultural, present in infancy, all other emotions are a combination of the original 10. 6 Basic are joy, anger, disgust, surprise, sadness, and fear.<br>Yerkes Dodson Theory: Optimum stress necessary for optimum performance, too much stress or too little stress isnt good.<br>Learned Motives: Form of social motives but learned through modeling/observation of others (aggression and achievement).<br>Stimulus Motives: unlearned motives that encourage exploration of world.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I can know the terms and technique on stress and how to lessen.<br><strong>Tend and befriend response</strong>: under stress, people (especially women) often provide support to other (tend) and bond with and seek support for others.</div><div><strong>General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS): </strong>Selye’s concept of the body’s adaptive response to stress in 3 phrases-alarm, resistance, and exhaustion.<br><strong>Catastrophic events: </strong>Large scale events such as wars, famines, and natural disasters<br><strong>Significant life changes:</strong> A transition in life that changes a person’s lifestyle<br><strong>Daily hassles: </strong>Things in our daily lives that cause stress.<br><strong>Coronary Heart Disease:</strong>&nbsp; Clogging of the vessels that nourish the heart.</div><div><strong>Psychophysiological Illness: </strong>Stress related physical illness.</div><div><strong>lymphocytes: </strong>Two types of white blood cells in the immune system.</div>]]></description>
