AL-QURAN, THE BOOK OF GUIDANCE

• Al-Quran is preserved forever unlike other religions

• Guidance belongs to Allah

• We must make an effort to gain Allah’s guidance

To conclude, manners in seeking knowledge teach us humility and respect, reminding us that knowledge is a trust from Allah. The Qur’an, as the book of guidance, shows us the straight path, and with good manners in learning it, we can apply its wisdom sincerely in our daily lives.

He asked the Prophet to explain about Islam. After the Prophet explained, the man said, “You are right.” The man then continued to ask about Iman, Ihsan, and the signs of the Day of Judgement, and after each answer he said the same thing: “You are right.”

After that, the man left. The Prophet then told Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA) that the man was Jibril (Gabriel), who came to teach them about their religion.

Islam

Signs of The Day of Judgement (small signs)

• Slave woman gives birth to her mistress. Scholars explain this as children disobeying or treating their parents like slaves or servants, or social changes where roles become reversed

• Poor shepherds compete in building tall buildings. This means poor and simple people will suddenly gain wealth and compete in worldly achievements (like skyscrapers)

All in all, this hadith gathers the essence of Islam, Iman, and Ihsan, and reminds us of the importance of sincerity, knowledge, and preparing for the Hereafter. It also teaches us about manners with teachers when seeking knowledge. For example, Jibril wait until the Prophet finishes his explanation then only Jibril ask the next questions. Therefore, we need to take all of the key points in this hadith in order to become a better Muslim in the future.

Belief in angels reminds us that nothing escapes Allah’s knowledge, as His angels record every deed: “And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers, noble and recording; they know whatever you do” (Surah Al-Infitar 82:10–12).

Belief in the divine books teaches us to live by the guidance Allah revealed, especially the Qur’an, which is complete and preserved: “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian” (Surah Al-Hijr 15:9). From these pillars, we learn lessons of obedience, sincerity, and commitment to truth.

All in all, the pillars of Iman strengthen a Muslim’s faith by teaching us to believe in Allah, follow His guidance, and live with responsibility. They help us stay patient, hopeful, and prepared for the Hereafter.

Belief in the prophets reminds us to follow their teachings and character, as Allah says: “Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah often” (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:21).

Belief in the Day of Judgment inspires us to prepare for the Hereafter, knowing that “So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it” (Surah Az-Zalzalah 99:7–8).

Belief in Qadar strengthens patience and reliance on Allah’s wisdom, as stated: “Indeed, all things We created with predestination” (Surah Al-Qamar 54:49). These pillars teach us to trust Allah’s plan, live righteously, and remain hopeful for His reward.

All in all, the pillars of Iman are not just beliefs, but lessons that shape our lives with purpose and hope. By trusting Allah’s plan and living with accountability, a Muslim finds strength, patience, and peace in every part of life.

Relating Ihsan to doing good to parents, it means treating them with kindness, respect, and love not just outwardly, but from the heart, seeking Allah’s pleasure. Allah commands in the Qur’an: “And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination” (Luqman 31:14). By practicing Ihsan, a Muslim not only obeys parents but does so with sincerity, patience, and gentleness, knowing Allah is always aware of their intentions.

Pillars of Iman (Day of Judgment)

In the pillars of Iman, belief in the Day of Judgment means having faith that every person will be resurrected after death and held accountable for their deeds. On that day, Allah will reward the righteous with Paradise and punish those who reject faith with Hell. This belief reminds Muslims to live responsibly, knowing that every action has consequences in the Hereafter. Allah says: “Indeed, the Hour is coming—there is no doubt about it—and Allah will resurrect those in the graves” (Surah Al-Hajj 22:7).

Before the Day of Judgment, there will be signs. The minor signs include events such as widespread immorality, disobedience to parents, people competing in tall buildings, and knowledge being taken away. These are signs that gradually prepare humanity for the end. The major signs are much greater and more direct, such as the coming of the Dajjal (Antichrist), the descent of Prophet Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him), the rising of the sun from the west, and the appearance of Ya’juj and Ma’juj . These will happen close to the Hour and signal its nearness.

In short, it reminds us that faith is not only about knowing but also about living sincerely with awareness of Allah. Ihsan trains us to act with excellence, especially in serving our parents with love and respect, while belief in the Day of Judgment makes us conscious that every deed—big or small—will be accounted for. Together, these teachings inspire us to live with sincerity, responsibility, and gratitude, seeking Allah’s pleasure in this world and His reward in the Hereafter.
