This picture displays a disassembled owl's hairball which contains various remains from previously eaten prey. It was dissembled in class. Typically owl's expel 2.5 hairballs a day and in this case there were 4 rats and 2 mice within this hairball. This photo displays biodiversity through the numerous types of prey that are eaten by the owl, with mice and rat skulls being shown while shrews, voles, and other birds also being possible remains. This relates to environmental science by showing the variety of animals in an ecosystem.
