This project will focus on the intersection of racial identity and economic inequality. I am going to with particular attention to how these systems disproportionately affect minority communities in America. The racial wealth gap is a pressing issue, deeply rooted in systemic discrimination and intergenerational inequities. Today, the relevance of these disparities is evident in debates over social justice, equity-driven policies, and economic reform. I attached a newscast which examines this racial wealth gap a bit further.

The U.S. economy has long been shaped by the exploitation and segregation of people of color. Policies like slavery, Jim Crow laws, and the New Deal played a major role in creating inequalities by trapping workers of color in low-paying jobs and institutionalizing wage gaps. Even today, racial disparities in employment and economic opportunities remain widespread. These laws continue to affect wealth distribution and opportunities today.
