The purpose of this exercise was to remind us that before taking on other roles and adding extra layers, we need to be true to ourselves and understand first of all our own voice.

We had a fun activity in class. Blanca asked us to pretend that we were in a forest and she gave us different scenarios to imagine. Since it was my first day, it felt a bit weird to me and the people around me seemed a bit strange too. But I decided to go along with it and explore something new. In the end, I found myself actually in a forest, looking at different things and walking through the jungle with branches.

This exercise helped me overcome my initial awkwardness and expanded my imagination and creativity. When I imagined being in a forest, I had to navigate through imaginary branches and twigs, which changed how I moved and expressed myself physically. This exercise definitely allowed me to break free from my comfort zone and explore new ways of expressing myself.

Our task was to watch strangers in the subway or on the street and imitate what they were doing. This task helped me understand how to portray a different character and imagine things about them.

This exercise allowed me to understand their behavior, body language, and emotions. It also expand  my observation skills, and ability to notice subtle details that reveal a person's character.

I would like to direct films in the future, so for me it was super useful because Imitating strangers in public required me to imagine and create stories about these individuals. We had to think about their backgrounds, motivations, and experiences that might have influenced their actions. All these facts are so important for director

These scripts are designed such a way that they can be used in various situations. I was working with Rem and we created a situation where we were scientists. According to our version I made a mistake, and now the atomic bomb is going to explode very soon. I was trying to hide this fact from Rem. 

These scripts were my first experience of creating dialogues with a partner. The first thing I realized was the importance of knowing your lines. It's crucial to memorize your lines so that you don't have to read from a script, which doesn't make you a great actor. The second thing I learned was the importance of listening attentively to my partner. 

We also talked about the Stanislavski method and how important it is to know details about your character, like who you're speaking to and what you're wearing and so on. 



I was really inspired by learning about the Stanislavski method, so I immediately went to the library and borrowed a book about Stanislavski and his teachings.

When I first started learning about the Stanislavsky method, it was all about understanding the given circumstances. Basically, it means that as an actor, I need to imagine and understand the background, environment, and situation of the character I am playing . This helps myself  immerse in to the role and make my performance more believable.

To do this, I learned to ask questions like: Who is my character? Where do they come from? What are their relationships with other characters? What is happening in the scene? By answering these questions and imagining the specific details of the character's life, I was able to bring depth and authenticity to my performance.

The Stanislavsky method also taught me the importance of active listening and reacting in the moment. Instead of just reciting lines, I learned to truly listen to my scene partner and respond naturally. This makes a play more spontaneous and authentic

Also Blanca taught us a fun game where we all stood in a circle. The game involved throwing a ball to someone while saying their name. Then that person would do the same with another person's name. We also had to keep changing our positions and pass the ball around. It was a bit chaotic but it definitely improved my focus. The game  required us to be fully present and focused on the moment. We had to pay attention to the person throwing the ball and react quickly by catching it and saying their name. This heightened our ability to be present and focused during scenes or performances.
It’s also enhanced our listening  skills. As we played the game, we had to actively listen to the names being called out and remember them to pass the ball accurately. This exercise helped sharpen our listening skills, which are crucial in scene work when we have to respond to our scene partners' lines and actions.


In Carl's class, we had to pick a monologue from a play. At first, it was challenging for me because I couldn't find a monologue that I could understand or that made sense. But with the help of Valeria, I found a great and easy dialogue about a cheater man who wants to marry a rich woman.

Practicing monologues has boosted my confidence a lot. Now, if I want to audition for something in the future, I feel much more confident that I can do well and pass. We learned how to use these levels to enhance our performances. Then, we were given specific levels of tension and had to perform duologues with our partners. I was paired with Sherazad, and my level of tension was 2 while hers was 7. We acted out a scene where we were stuck in an elevator. It was really fun to see the contrast between our different levels of tension.

Knowing about levels of tension in acting benefited me a lot. It allowed me  to portray emotions and reactions in a more authentic and realistic manner. By being aware of the different levels of tension that can be present in a scene, I adjusted my performance accordingly and it helped to understand my character more.
It also expanded my emotional range. It allows to explore a wider variety of emotions and effectively show them to the audience. 


With Carl, we continued working on our monologues, but in an unusual way. Carl told us to do all kinds of things while performing - to run, to jump, and at the same time, tell our monologue. We discovered that we already have everything we need inside us and we should ask ourselves why we chose a particular monologue. It's important to have a purpose behind everything we do and to let go of overthinking.

For me it was interesting to learn about subtext. Its  like a "hidden message" behind what the characters say and do. It's the thoughts and feelings that are not directly spoken, but you can understand them by paying the way how the characters talk and act. It's like reading between the lines to figure out what's really going on. Today Carl recorded us  on camera with a partner. It was a new and experience to have a camera filming us, but I really liked it. The feeling of being in front of the camera and sharing our monologues was great 

After the first try, Carl started giving us advice and ideas to help people improve their monologues. He shared tips on how to speak confidently, maintain eye contact with the parner. It was incredibly helpful, and I could see myself improving with each take.

We continued to record more videos, exploring different topics and sharing our insights. It became a fun and creative outlet for us, as we experimented with different styles and approaches. Sometimes we would even add in some humor to make the videos more entertaining.


Overall, the experience of recording videos with Carl was both challenging and enjoyable. It pushed us out of our comfort zones.

Blanca advised us on using the space in a better way during our dialogue. Since it was late at night and my character was scared, she suggested that I look around and be aware of the dangerous fact that I was actually in the canal, which was very cold.
