The reason I used these words is because its a perfect illustration for his prominent nature. The Friar would go from flirting with others and flattering to begging in order to gain his wealth. Yet others still respect him because all they see is his good nature to others which in turn he uses as an advantage to further his success. When I said the the Friar would do "anything", in reality that meant he would take any action to get more money.
