One special boy changes the lives of everyone he meets in a Philippine town on the outside of the island of Luzon. Magnifico is his given name, but his nickname is Ikoy, and he was born into a poor family. His father works odd jobs, his older brother (Miong) has lost his academic scholarship, and his mother spends her days caring for Helen, a young daughter with cerebral palsy, as well as her husband's aging mother, who lives upstairs in the family home and suffers from diabetes and pancreatic cancer. Magnifico is nice and well-intentioned young boy who is often punished by his father for being stupid, an unfair judgement for a child who is much more clever than anyone gives him credit for.

Magnifico's world is full of people who might use his special gifts of hope, determination, and love. There's the bereaved man, two feuding shop owners, the crabby old woman who runs the mortuary, his elder brother, who has a crush on a wealthy girl, his little sister, who wants to get out and see the world but can't walk, and even his own ailing grandmother, who is worried that the family won't be able to afford a proper burial for her when the time comes. 

Magnifico, on the other hand, works hard at his task, concocting a remedy for the mortician's ailments, playing matchmaker for his love-struck brother, planning to provide a funeral gown and coffin for his grandmother, and arranging a wheelchair so he can take his ill sister to the carnival. Magnifico, who wants nothing for himself but to offer joy to the people he cares about, always manages to find just the right answer to fill every need. And when the big carnival night arrives, all of his efforts paid off. 

Magnifico attempted to cross the street one afternoon but was accidentally hit by a car. When he was hit by a car and died, everything changed. Gerry, Edna, and Lola Magda mourned their loss, and placed him in the casket that Ikoy had created for his grandmother. Magnifico's family, friends, and the people he has touched were there for his interment, and the community shared a tearful moment in honor of his never-ending generosity.

My rate is 5/5 because magnifico is a great film. It is, without a doubt, one of the best Filipino films I've ever seen. The story is simple, but the message is so deep. Magnifico is film written by Michiko Yamamoto and directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes. Magnifico gained 31 wins and 11 other nominations in major international film festivals. Magnifico collected 7 major awards in the FAMAS Awards, 7 awards in the Gawad Urian Awards, 6 awards from FAO Awards in the Philippines. In 2011  the Gawad Urian Awards Committee proclaimed Magnifico as the "Best Film of the Decade".

Maryo J. de los Reyes began his career in directing films and televition in 1970s and won the Crystal Bear for "Best feature Film" for Magnifico during the berlin international film festival. also won the Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk  Grand prinx for "Best feature Film" for Magnifico during the berlin international film festival.

 Jiro Manio is a Filipino actor who started acting at the age of seven  in 1999. and Won several awards in the film Magnifico. In 2004 He won FAMAS Award "Best Child Actor", he also win the "Best Actor " from  Gawad Urian Award and won the "Best Actor" in FAP Awards.

Gloria Romero is the first recipient of the lifetime achievement award from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board. For me the good aspect of the movie is that it still shows magnifico being a good child even though they are poor and even though his father always says bad things to him. The movie showed a child’s love for his family. The good aspect of the movie is that we can learn a lot from it. The bad aspect for me is that poverty is inevitable.
