The three types of DNA testing are nuclear DNA, y chromosome, and mitochondrial DNA. Nuclear DNA testing is used for identifying an individual as being in contact with evidence item. Y chromosome DNA is specific to the male chromosome, y, and is useful for sexual assaults and such.
