His father reads him a bedtime story and his mother says good night. The boy becomes sad that the day has ended and asks his mother "Why does the day have to end?". She responds and tells the boy that everything ends and begins in another place or in a different way. She published around 70 children's books. She believed there is no such thing as 'spare time'. She believed "that in a larger sense no time is ‘spare’, it is limited, precious and valuable”. With this in mind, she liked to garden, read, and people watch on her porch. She has two children. Her daughter, Ellen, became known as the Crescent Dragonwagon and was a writer as well.
