But also I think positive because they never lose hope and they think that everybody should be treated equally.
2. I think its because the plant perserveres just like the family and never gives up (mama never gives up). It brings mama happiness and hope that one day she will be treated equal and will have a good life if you work hard.

Mira is correct that Walter hides his feelings, get angry, or run away, and when things turn towards a better outlook, he has the most noticable change in how he acts. Beneatha influences his negative feelings, and she pours a good portion of her anger and bad feelings onto him.

Meghan Benda: I agree with Isabelle because I think that Walter is the main character. He always has the biggest impact on his family, and overall the plot of the whole story. For example, like when he lost all of the money Mama gave to him. But throughout the story he learns that he needs to focus on the family's concerns, and finds out that their most important dream is to move into the house, which made the family very happy at the end.

In my opinion Mama is the main character because the play seems to be showing how far mama has come in her life since she first moved into her apartment. For example when Walter is complaining about not being able to buy a liquor store and Mama tells him that through out her life she has been through many difficult problems to get to where she is now which I think also helps develop the theme of the play that if you have a dream no matter how long it may take or how difficult it can be to achieve it you can do anything with hard work and persistence.

I believe that Walter was the main character of the play because he was willing to make changes in the Younger family that no one else would do. For example, on pages 142 and 143 he was willing to beg for money from a white man, which would cause the rest of the family to loose their dignity. In conclusion, Walter being the only one to have the strength to do something like this, is the main character because he was willing to make very bold decisions.

I agree with Juliet because racial discrimination and segregation, were, and are very large issues in society. In the play, schools, living communities, and other public areas were segregated. While in modern times these places are open to all races, there is still much unnecessary hatred between African Americans and white men.

1. I think that Walter was the main character. He is usually in the scenes containing drama and he's the one in the end that rejects Mr. Lindner's deal and decides to move into the new house.
3. Now in this present day and time while we do not have any explicit segregation laws discrimination makes it harder to achieve the same as a white person that shows that there is still a difference in this present day society.
4.I think that the dominant theme in a Raisin in the Sun is about dreams in general. How everyone had their own plan for the future to achieve their dreams. For example Benetha wants to become doctor but also does not want to loose her culture doing so. Walter wants to set up an investment for a liquor store in order to have a good stable business.
