Sara Fortis was a survivor of the Holocaust.

Sara Fortis, born in 1927 in Ancient Greece had a happy childhood, but did not know much about her dad. he died when she was only 2 months old. Sara also identified as 100% Greek, but still celebrated being Jewish.

Sara left her hometown in 1941 when the Germans started attacking. Sara and her mother escaped to Kuturla and stayed there for a short period of time. It soon began to be too dangerous for Sara to be there so she had to leave her mother behind. When she left she shortly became a andarte. She went to multiple villages looking for people who wanted to fight.

Sara Fortis made a female partisan group. She took in younger children to fight and made them stronger, and braver girls. Their first mission they worked with more partisans to help attack enemies. Since the mission was a success they were also invited to many other missions. On future missions they would burn down houses, execute Nazi collaborators, and do an amazing job aiding men.

Sara and her team also did not get much credit for things they did or helped with. The way the women did things so unbelievable made the situation worse because they were probably the best out there. The women were also sometimes forced to sleep by men and Sara was concerned for the other women's safety.

Sara soon became a prominent letter on and was very respected. By age 18 she was known as Kapetenissa [Captain] Sarika. At one point Nazi's sent people to try and capture her but ended up murdering her cousin instead.

After the war the andartes started turning against with the new Greek government. Sara was arrested but because of her popularity she was released shortly after. She then moved to Israel where she met her husband and settled.
