In 1917 Germany announced that they were going to resume Unrestricted Submarine Warfare. This is very important because of this new restriction many Americans lost their lives. Also because of Unrestricted Submarine Warfare many ships that contained military equipment and goods were sunk as a result this cost the U.S thousands of dollars. On top of that Unrestricted Submarine Warfare violated the "Sussex Pledge". This event is known to be the primary reason that the U.S entered World War 1.

In this book Howard Zinn mentions that Presidents Wilson's argument to joining the war was flimsy since Great Britain was intruding on American rights long before Germany had, yet America did not declare war on them which is very important fact. This is significant because America only joined the war because of their alliance with Great Britain and for economic reasons. America only cared about making a profit and building the economy which is why they lifted the ban private banking, this is very significant. This is also very important because the U.S joined the Great War so that they could create more alliances and have a better opportunity for trade.

The Selective Service Act is important because it temporarily expanded the Military. Also it was important because it made sure that there was a fair and equal draft. This was also very important because it made sure that the U.S had enough men ready to be deployed in case of an emergency. It was also important because it made sure that there was safety in the country.

Liberty Bonds were very important during World War 1 because they helped pay for the war. Besides funding the war it made many Americans feel like they were helping their country. These bonds are of great significance because they helped buy all the military supplies and food that the soldiers need to survive in the front lines. Also they were important to the government because they could be payed over an extended period of time. This is important because at that time the U.S did not have enough money to pay the war, thanks to the help of the citizens the war was able to be funded for.

This is significant because the soldiers needed food to have enough stamina. This was important because there were many soldiers that needed to be feed. These measures were useful because it helped double the food being sent to Europe. This is also important because during times of war the production of food is slower so many soldiers did not have enough food. So food administration was significant so that the soldiers had enough food to fuel them after long days in the front-lines.

This battle was important to the U.S because it was the first major battle that the U.S was involved in and won. This battle was very important because it showed that the U.S was a force that should not be messed with. This win also deprived the Germans of an important observation point for its troops. This was an advantage to the Allies, as they now had the upper hand. This win is also significant because it also demonstrated to the Allied forces that they could depend on the United States.

It was significant because it proved that the newly formed AEF was powerful. The AEF and the Allied forces prevented Germany from gaining land.

Before World War 1 the medical field wasn't as advanced as it was after the war. After the war many soldiers came back injured, and were in need of rehabilitation and many other procedures. After the war there were significant changes in the medical field such as limb replacement, plastic surgery, and treatment of mental disorders. This is significant because many soldiers came back traumatized or severely scared so now they had a way to help them cope or heal their injuries.

Despite the U.S wanting to be isolated from the rest of the world, after WW 1 that changed. The U.S was later looked upon as a world economy leader. This is very important because thanks to that the U.S economy flourished and created more opportunities for the people. The U.S having a good economy was also important because it created more opportunities for better trade with many other countries. Having a good economy and being a leader is important because not only does it create opportunities for people but also helps with putting into effect or establishing the core values of the U.S.
