How is your progress?
The sign language class is going smoothly and as planned. For this week, we had 2 classes, focusing on feelings, adjectives, verbs, race and food & beverages.

3. Points to remember from week 2!
My teacher had pointed out that when spelling in signs, it is okay to go slowly, because there are alphabet signs that can be confusing.

4. Your feelings & thoughts
Going into 2nd week of EP, and 3rd and 4th of this sign language class, I felt proud because I can understand sign language better. I am also learning to sign smoother.

5. 1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!
1 thing I learned from this week's classes was to learn at my own pace. Even though I was able to recognize signs immediately, but to remember them and be accustomed to the signs needs proper practice.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?
Difficulty that I encountered is making sentences using sign language. Because deaf people needs the communication to be more direct, the sentence build would be simpler yet the message was able to be portrayed. That is something I would need more practice on.

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far
2 words to describe elective posting progress so far would be challenging, in terms of the amount of signs that needed to be recognized and remembered, and fun.

8. Your plan for next week (Week 3)
Next week's plan would be to focus on occupation, festive, and religion, which involves sign that are somewhat of a compound sign (in my opinion).

1. Tong Yung Shuen, A167911, 25 July 2021

2. How is your progress?
Everything is going fine, I have no problems accessing all the documents on the website that I'm using. I am trying to be committed to learning this. I arranged my daily schedule to make a study slot throughout my whole day for this.

3. Points to remember from week 2!
I faced some problem understanding some of the lessons. In the comments section I saw other netizens suggest that we can search YouTube or other platform for explanation. Maybe explanation from some other person could make me understand better. It is definitely a great tip when we are learning something.

4. Your feelings & thoughts
Learning a language is all about learn by heart. Language learning was never an easy job. I'm 22 years old and I'm still learning about my mother tongue : Chinese. So I remind myself not to be panic or rush in learning Korean, take my sweet time and learn by heart.

5. 1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!
As mentioned in Week 1 I used some simple Korean terms in daily life. Since our exam has ended, I also have a few friends who are taking Korean language learning as their elective posting. So we decided to practice it among ourselves. We uses Korean to chat ask questions among us.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?
As mentioned above, learn by heart. But learning language is not like learning a skill such as learning an instrument, or learning how to sew clothes that you can just improve by a lot of practicing. Practicing does make things better, but grammar was never easy. So instead of sticking to my usual learning platform, I searched on YouTube about other Korean learning sites explanation about grammar. I watched a few and it helped me understand betters about grammar. Attached above is one of the YouTube link that I was using and I found it easy to understand.

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far
Commitment, Practice.

8. Your plan for next week (Week 3)
So far I'm good and satisfied with my speed and learning great. I'll will just keep my pace and continue learning.

How is your progress?
During week 2, I had planned to buy all the ingredients needed to make bun, pizza and cookies. For this steps, I just followed the ingredients listed in the facebook group. I bought all the things at bakery shop. The price was reasonable as a few things were quite expensive such as almond nips and cheeddar cheese. I already have oven and hand mixer so it is easy for me. I have decided to make chocolate chips, tart nenas and walnut crisps. For pastry, I decided to make plain bun, korean garlic cheese and tuna pizza. My plan for week 2 run smoothly and I managed to follow the schedule.

3. Points to remember from week 2!
By reading the comments section in the facebook group, I learnt that there are many ways and techniques to make bun and cookies. All the tips given by the members of the group are very beneficial and can be used to improve my skills.

4. Your feelings & thoughts.
At first, I doubt myself whether I can do this or not. It is because I rarely bake cookies and it is my first time learning to make bun and pizza. Usually, I bake cookies with my sister during Hari Raya and just helping her to put the cookies in the oven and container. After learning in the group, my confidence increases and I will try my best to bake cookies and pastry.

5. 1 good thing from what you did that you can practice now!
Time management. I believed that in order to make all the menu listed above, time management is very crucial so that I didn't miss the steps.

6. Any difficulties/concerns? How did you cope?
For week 2, I didn't face any difficulties except for money to buy the ingredients. Luckily, I have some balanced money from JPA scholarship. The total expenses I used was around RM100

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far
     Steady progress and fun !

8. Your plan for next week (Week 3)
At week 3, I will start to bake cookies and pastry. It will be the most exciting week for me and I will record steps to make each menu.

How is your progress?

During week 2, I decided to buy the ingredients that I have listed for my recipes with my father. Alhamdulillah, everything goes smoothly (all ingredients are ready!!), then I proceed with the first recipe that I wanna try which is Kuih Apam Mekar. The reason why I choose Kuih Apam Mekar because that is my favorite kuih since childhood (I really love to eat Kuih Apam). I follow the recipes given that have been posted on Facebook. I enjoyed making this Kuih Apam so much, but then I think why not record a video on how to make Kuih Apam Mekar, so here I attached my vlog on recipes Kuih Apam Mekar.

3. My first try was not that good, the Kuih Apam Mekar should look like a flower (mekar) but mine does not look like a flower at all. But alhamdulillah the taste is good and it has a fluffy texture. I review the recipes and I find out that my failure may cause by under beat the batter.

7. 2 words to describe elective posting progress so far

Enjoyed and fun

8.

1)Name ,Matric number, Date

Norsuriani Azni Binti Mohd Yusof , A168119 ,2/8/2021-6/8/2021

2)How is your progress ?

In my second week of elective posting, I had learned another three new topics which are greetings, colours and family. In every topic, I watched all the videos ,doing all the quizzes in each topic and of course to record myself doing the sign as part of the task needed . For these three topics , I have done three videos which are to tell people my favourite colour , describe colours of certain things such as car, shoes, shirt and towel and also describe about my beloved family.

3)Points to remember from week 2 !

Effort is a must ! Learning new things can be difficult without any effort . In order to make my hand sign smooth and faster , I should always practise using it. For me , when I record my own videos I can see how my hand sign moves. I can see the improvement of my hand sign when I take the videos repeatedly. First take fails, second takes fails and when I try again and again , yeah I can do it in one take only and that makes me become more confident as well.

4)Your feelings and thoughts.

I am enjoying every single topic that I have learned even if it becomes more difficult and challenging. But overall , I was so happy because I can catch up the learning and be able to guess and understand the signs used in the videos without looking at the subtitles.

5)One good thing from what you did is that you can practise now !

Now I can greet people using sign language such as ‘Assalammualaikum’,’hello’ and also ‘Selamat pagi’ . It is so easy and practicable as I meet people everyday , so I just can practise it whenever I meet people everywhere. Other than that, I also can tell people about colours which is very exciting for me. I am able to use signs to describe my own favourite colour and describe certain colours of things.Lastly, I can describe my own family using sign language.

6)Any difficulties/concerns ? How did you cope ?

During the second week of learning sign language, I started to feel the difficulties increasing. The most difficult part is learning on family topic. There are so many words that must be remembered in order to describe the whole family. The video provided on family topic also quite long compare to the other previous topics and I have to remember all the new signs in order to be able to tell people about family using sign.Despite the difficulties, I watched the video repeatedly so many times to make sure that I will able to catch up all the sign and I managed to understand it well and completed the topic already.

7)2 words to describe elective posting progress so far.

Enjoyable and adaptable !

8)Your plan for next week( Week 3)

To learn another 2 topics about place and occupation and revising my previous topics that had been learned.
