Hot chocolate was a old Mayan tradition in Guatemala in the 460-480 AD. It was originally found in  tomb of Rio Azul.  It was originally served cold and was called "chocolatl" and was often mixed with other ingredients such as Water, Cornmeal, Chili Peppers, and others. It often had base flavors of vanilla and other cold served spices. 1.) Combine the cocoa, sugar, water, and salt in a medium saucepan.

2.) Over medium heat, stir constantly until the mixture boils. Cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute.

3.) Stir in the milk and heat, but do not boil.

4.)Remove from the heat and add vanilla; stir well.
