The red army eas the bolsheviks (soviets). The white army was the opposition to the soviet/communist movement. The red army had a very easy job as they took control of industialised areas of russia (Moscov, Leningrad, Stalingrad) and the white army was pushedoput to areas like siberia. The white army was also extremely disorganised and had no supply to fight a civil war.
