Associated with a case that determined that school districts could tax the public to support high schools and elementary schools. This court case set the precedent for financing public high schools.
I believe that the funding of public high schools is essential for our nation's ability to educate all individuals. Well educated people are essential to a smoothly functioning society. If citizens can't pay for their education, then they do not get the educational foundation necessary to function successfully in the workplace, which ends up hurting our society instead of aiding in its nourishment.

Private academies were not accommodating to the poor because they could not afford education. After the American Revolution there was a growing demand for free public elementary education, which aided in providing a good standing point for the request of free secondary education. In addition, free public education was only supported by democratic societies, in which we fought so hard to acquire. The development of public high schools is essential to spreading wealth among those who are attempting to rebuild their lives after years of war. The only way to prosper is through knowledge, and the only way to gain knowledge and to make it accessible to all individuals is to make it free.

This term is coined as schools that provided education for the average person. This form of education was the beginning of the spread of common knowledge, although it was not accessible to everyone. Those who could not afford it were still not educated, but the idea of spreading a foundation of common knowledge through schooling is a concept that is essential for educational origins. The decision to teach a foundation to society foreshadows that eventually education will shift to the public.

A case that stated segregation within Caucasian and African American children within schools is illegal. This case instigated a requirement for equality of educational opportunity, and changed the way that students were organized and treated at school. The segregation within schools was more extensive than separating students based off their skin color. It was frequently noted that African American students were not given appropriate learning supplies, and seemed to lack privileges that white students were granted. The lack of equality effects a students learning environment, and it also acts as an imbalance to society.

This concept was of European influence. The concept of introducing young children to formal types of education by creating environments involving pleasant activities, such as songs and stories were used as a developmental tool to ease younger students toward more advance forms of education. This is crucial to the development of education because if you instigate learning at a young age, they are more likely to obtain a higher level of knowledge as they grow. Plus, it is much easier for students to understand that education is a part of life when you introduce it to them as a part of the daily routine.
