<title>10.4 pg 277 Caption It! I used 3 different pictures from the old science kit and found non-fiction reading passages to go with those pictures. I had 6 students in the small group so I paired the students up. I had the students read the passage with their partner 3 times, and then they would read the passage with me. We then looked at the picture to see how the picture supported the passage. The goal is to have students use their own words to write a caption, not just a fact that they read. This was a little difficult for the students. It definitely took conversation and prompting.</title>

<title>Page 28- 1.5 Word Treasure HuntI implemented this lesson during my guided reading group. The students who participated were in my level B group, which is the highest in my class. After following my usual guided reading lesson plan and having students practice independent reading, I proposed to the students that we should do a treasure hunt. I mentioned that all the sight words in the book were treasures that we needed to find. The students looked back into the book and took turns sharing sight words they had found. As they shared, I would write the sight words on a treasure chest I and previously drawn on a dry erase board. The students were really excited to find treasures and had a lot of practice with sight words since they would spell the sight words for me or would volunteer to write it themselves. </title>
