...the Democratic Republic of Korea (DPRK) announced that it had developed the capacity to engage in large-scale nuclear flue reprocessing, this had caused a great problem that the United States intended to solve.

Information from initiatives announced in 2006, North Korea had become the ninth nuclear power, and the best estimates of its nuclear weapons suggested that it possessed 6 to 8 reasonably primitive, low yield nuclear warheads. The United States had tried to perform a series of negotiations in order to slow down the North Korean nuclear weapons program or to persuade them to abandon it altogether.

Tensions Rise among North and South Korea and an attack breaks out...

...within a week after reprocessing announcements North Korean artillery attacked civilian facilities in Yeonpyeong Island, off the western coast of the two countries, killing four South Koreans: two military personnel and two civilians.

South Korea accused North Korea of an unprovoked act of aggression, mobilized, and threatened an "overwhelmed military response." The DPRK countered this claim by saying that the attack was a response to provocative South Korean military exercises near its territory and also through further military actions. This led to the United States, to move its aircraft carrier U.S.S. George Washington into position off the Korean coast in case of a threat. Behind the scenes, US had tried to plan with China, North Korea's strongest allies, to put pressure onto DPRK dictator Kim Jong Il.

...they were face with two other difficulties at the time the crisis arose. One of these difficulties was the failing of North Korean leader, Kim Jong Il, announced his chosen successor as his 26-year-old son Kim Jong Un. He was basically unknown before this point and questions inevitably emerged about how smoothly this process would go. Another problem that they faced was that DPRK was in extreme poverty. There were throes of periodic food shortages and they were in desperate need of outside assistance to appease another round of suffering for the population of this nation. This situation had this led to the North Korean militancy that resulted in the agreement with the United States and others to come to the country's aid.

North Korea and the United States have had a difficult, negative, and even bizarre relationship since the end of WW2...

...three years of blood-shed began in 1950, a war that technically is still active till this day.

America is constantly trying to prevent North Korea from restarting the Korean War, and ironic possibility given that this could destroy the peninsula and most certainly lead to the extraction of the DPRK regime, that even North Korea understands. The true tragedy lies among the people in North Korea who are facing severe levels of poverty and unfair treatment compared to their brothers in the south. Life is miserable in North Korea, and the only people to blame for that is the regime.
