Yes, obviously, we love it when someone's blocking is on point or jams like there's no tomorrow but I feel like I've learnt that it's seriously okay to be just okay. It's important to note that this doesn't diminish in anyway from us spurring one another on to try new things, develop our skills and push our boundaries.

This can take many forms. The obvious being inclusive of gender, race, ability etc. Maybe less obvious and specific to derby is inclusiveness to others values e.g. some want to train to be the best, some want to train for fun, some want to train for self development.

I think the league needs to work on respect. There seems to be a lot of self importance that comes about from the confidence that derby gives people, but that sometimes means that people are only thinking of themselves and not of their team mates or others who are sharing the venue, (new skaters, referees, male skaters, trainers... ) it's just something that I've noticed that does bother me often.
I also think the value of teamwork is sometimes lacking. Derby can sometimes be a very individual thing as people have their own weaknesses they want to improve on, and often at training people are just getting out of the session what they want to get out of the session - not considering whether someone else may be there to put in 110%, or that they sacrificed a family dinner to come to training and don't want to waste their time mucking around. And we all have people in life that we don't like, but part of playing a sport is teamwork and you need to be able to put those things aside and find a way to work together so that you can all achieve the teams common goal - whatever the goal may be. ]]> 2017-10-06 14:56:58 UTC https://padlet.com/paul120/RDvalues/wish/194718114 zoe46 https://padlet.com/paul120/RDvalues/wish/194866637 That we are inclusive and welcoming. 
People come to derby for millions of different reasons, but often we find ourselves starting Derby during periods of change or crisis. 
It is important that as a league we cater for all types of skaters. People who want to be the best and people who are doing this to give them a slice of sanity in a busy week.
