His full name is Allah Rakha Rahman.his original name is A.S Dileep Kumar. Rahman was born on 6th January, 1966,in Chennai. Rahman whose extensive body of work for film and stage earned  him the nick name "the Mozart of Madras." In 1991 while at a ceremony  to receive an award for his work on a coffee advertisement, Rahman met Bollywood film director Mani Rathnam , who persuaded him to write music for motion pictures. Their first project  in ROJA , which resulted in Rahman's  first film soundtrack hit. More than 100 movie scores followed, including the music for Lagan (2001), the first Bollywood film nominated for an Academy Award. Rahman's albums sold more than 100 million copies. Rahman continued his work for the screen, scoring films for Bollywood and increasingly , Hollywood. He contributed a song to the soundtrack of Spike Lee's Inside Man (2006) and cowrote the score for Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007). However, his true breakthrough to western audiences came with  Danny Boyle's rags-to-riches saga Slumdog Millionaire (2008). He collected a British Academy of film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award for best music as well as a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for best song for "Jai Ho", a Latin-infused dance track that accompanied the film's closing Bollywood -style dance number.
