Some adults seem to show a preference for the direction in which the fish heads point; this handedness may be related to the selection of foraging sites. The Black Guillemot can stay underwater for up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds. The Black Guillemot shows a considerable amount of geographic variation in the amount of white in its winter plumage. Higher-latitude populations show more white background color than do southern populations, and can be nearly pure white with black wings.

The female bird is mostly black with a greenish, purpleish or grayish tone at their neck. It is white underneath just like the male bird. The male bird is brownish with a black upperbody, it has white patches and an unclear pattern on it's back. The male bird is also bigger and heavier that the female. Common loons live on lakes in Canada, United States, Greenland and Iceland. During winter they stay at the cost of the US and the Atlantic cost of Europe. They mostly eat small fishes but also insects and waterplants. The common loon is named after it's clumsy and awkward appearance on land due to it's legs being located at it's rear end but it is a great diver and can dive 60m in water! Their call is also very weird and almost sounds like a maniacal laughter!
-Laufey S.

Now they are protected and there numbers are rising. The main breeding area is breiðifjörður. Fun fact: the Eagles don’t reach puberty until 4-5 yers old.

The Arctic tern is a sea bird and it belongs to the Laridae bird family. It mainly eats fish and other small marine invertebrates so it tends to live as close as it can to the sea or some other place where it can find fish. The bird travels around the globe depending on the time of the year. Recent studies show that the average annual road trip for an Arctic tern are around 70.900-90.000km depending on whether the bird reasts in Iceland, Greenland or the Netherlands. During the winter the Arctic tern stays in the south to the Antarctic ocean. Then when spring comes around the bird starts flying towards the north (Iceland, Norway, Canada, northern Russia and etcetera.) And that's where they breed and lay eggs.

-Alexandra Líf
