• English and Jamaican Patois have similar origins, so they might sound similar, but they are different. --They are two different languages with different grammar, structures, and pronunciations. ---What they have in common is that they are the most spoken/ principal languages in Jamaica. ---Another difference is that one is official, and the other is the most popular language in the country. 

• Similar political aspects between the USA and Jamaica are that the colonizers are the people in power. For instance, they can make decisions that affect everyone, like making English official without thinking about the original language of the territories or which languages people actually speak in their daily lives. 

• The difference between these 2 countries is that people who fight for rights do not want to have an official language in the USA, but they do want one in Jamaica.

2- Jamaicans want to declare Patois as their official language first to show their independence from the U.K. And because it is difficult for students to learn in another language different than their native one.
