or sidewalk by using different colors of blue and different wave patterns and have them "surf" by

balancing on the lines? Better yet?

Let's draw the waves with sidewalk chalk; cheaper and it allows for more variation in lines:) Play the "Surfin' in the USA" song.

Finding Nemo: Jellyfish bounce

We could set up a bunch of hula hoops, add some streamer tentacles, and the students could jump from jellyfish to jellyfish. Extensions could include, jumping, hopping, leaping, etc.

Finding Nemo: Riding Sea Turtles

We could purchase a bunch of these bouncy balls (maybe even draw turtle shells on them with a sharpie) and they could have a race with these balls. KidsLOVE these, especially K-2.

Sebastian (From the Little Mermaid) Crab Walk

We could purchase some plastic crabs & lobsters and use some big metal pots from the kitchen. Students will crab walk to the pot to "rescue" Sebastian and then run back to tag their teammate to do the same. Continue until all crabs are rescued from the pot!

Bubble Guppy Mermaid Tail Race

We could have the students toss bean bags into the hole of the starfish! ?? 5 groups of 5 Students take turns tossing in bean bags, underhand or overhand, move line back a few feet each time

Walk the Plank

One directly on the ground, one

propped up to a medium height

and one propped up to a higher

height. The students would

take turns walking the plank and

jumping "into the sea".

Pirate Rolling

IN GYM. Using mats set up in

spoke formation, students will roll

the pencil roll, log roll, egg roll, rocker and forward roll.

For the sake of this activity, we will

rename the rolls: SWORD roll, PLANK

roll, ROTTEN EGG ROLL, ROCK the SHIP roll and CANNONBALL roll. The students

could roll along one of the spokes, a

cone with a picture of a sword, plank

or cannonball would be in front of the mat. That way we could have 5 groups of 5 practicing 5 different rolls for this one station!

Each member of the team does the

appropriate roll twice and then moves to

the next mat, next picture, next roll.

Shark Chase

Get the kids to spread out on one side of the grassy area - they are fish. Scatter five or more hula hoops around the opposite side of the area (the hoops are the fish's "homes").

Select one child to be a shark, and have that player stand between the "fish" and their "homes." When the "shark" calls Shark!, he or she runs after the "fish" and tags as many as possible. The fish must reach home - step inside the hula hoop - to be safe from the shark.

Any player who is tagged becomes a shark for the next round, and tags remaining fish. For each round, take away one hula hoop until only one hoop is left. The game continues until all the fish are caught.

Seafood Limbo

have the children go under the pole moving like different sea animals. (Example: walk like a crab, slide like an eel, etc.) Extension: As the pole gets lower have students figure out which sea animal would have the easiest time getting under, which is smaller, flatter, etc.

Sea Parachute Activities

Making Waves: Children can make small, medium, or large
movements to make various types of "waves." You can incorporate a story about a ship on the sea, weather, etc. &/or use your voice as a tool to emphasize directives.
The Wave: Children put their hands up, one after another, in order – creating a synchronized "wave" like in the stands at a baseball
game.
Turtle: The parachute becomes a giant turtle shell with
everyone underneath it on hands and knees. Everyone must cooperate and work together to get the turtle to move about.

Sea Sponge Toss

The children pair up and grab a wet sea sponge . The students start by standing close together and toss the sponge. If they catch it then they move back to the next distance, and continue to do so until they drop it. If they drop it they move forward one distance.

Splash Tag

4 players are designated as being it. Players run away from it, who tries to tag them with the wet sponges on their shoulders or back. Once tagged, that person becomes the new it, gets the sponge wet and tries to tag someone else.

Peg Legged Pirate Race

The students get into pairs and have one of their legs attached to their partner's using a fabric strip, this becoming their peg leg. The students will then have a 3 legged race for 50 feet.

Crab Soccer

The Fisherman Is Coming

Like red light green light, the students must go and freeze according the the directors instructions. However, in this came the children are all fish and move forward when the director calls "the fisherman is away", but they must freeze when the director calls "the fisherman is coming" to avoid being caught.

Jumping The Waves

Volunteers will twirl long jump ropes, which will be the waves. The children will have to jump over the waves. This activity can be extended by having the kids hop, gallop, jump, leap, etc. over the waves.

Penguin Slide

Students will waddle like penguins around various objects to reach each slide (obstacle course) once the student has reached the slide they will then slide from one end to the other and continue to waddle to the next slide. Safety (proper sliding and space awareness)

Jellyfish Crawl

Going Fishing!

Students will be surrounding a big barrel of water with foam fish inside,

each student will have a magnetic pole to reach in and go fishing! After

all fish are collected students will count their fish and toss them back into

the water where they can swim!

Hungry Hungry Sharks!

Balloons will be placed in the middle of a space with two targets along the outsides, students will run to the middle and kick one balloon at a time back to their shark target. Once the balloon is in the target they may go back to retrieve another balloon (etc). After all balloons are collected students will switch targets.
