I chose to create my Padlet around the topic: Additional ways to increase your finances or make money. I thought this was an interesting topic to research, especially due to working restrictions that could be impacting people negatively during the Covid-19 pandemic. Regardless, its always good to know how to make some extra money on the side. I want to show viewers a few different ways they can make extra income from the comfort of their home and showcase some of the best Canadian companies offering at home entrepreneurs ways to work to make some extra money.

Driving With a Canadian Delivery Service.

Inside of this video produced by MoyerOfficial, you will learn everything from the best ways to maximize your delivery profits to some tax advice in order to keep those profits. The expansive food delivery service has changed the face of takeout delivery globally forever, and as this market continues to grow more and more delivery drivers are needed in order to keep up with demand. Driving for UberEats Canada can be beneficial for anyone looking to make some money in their spare time, with the only real expense’s being time and gasoline. Especially now living with the pandemic, driving for UberEats Canada can be seen as a potentially safer alternative than other paid driving services.

Maximizing Profits To Make Some Extra Money When Selling Your Stuff.

Inside of this video produced by CTV, Marc Saltzman discusses the best ways to maximize profits when selling your possessions online through different supply and demand outlets. During the pandemic, it seems that everyone has a little more time on their hands around the house and if you can make some extra money while decluttering your house then, why not? Anyone can use platforms like Ebay or Kijiji but I think it’s important to ensure people know that they’re getting the most bang for their buck. Most importantly, individuals need to make sure that they are marketing the item’s they’re selling for the best buyer in mind.

Different Ways of Making Passive Income.

Inside of this video produced by Charlee Wayne, you’ll be shown some of the interesting ways to begin making daily passive income. Speaking from personal experience and trial and error, Charlee discusses information about cash-back rewards apps to dividend investing, Charlee will teach you some of the best methods he’s found that work for him. I think some of his comments about the use of dividend investing and collection, automated investing, and high interest savings accounts can be useful especially for the long term, even if the individual trying to make some extra money doesn’t have a lot of disposable income.

Pick Up a Money Back Credit Card

Most people have at least 1 credit card these days, and if you know you’ll be paying off your monthly balances in full then why not pick up a credit card with a slightly higher interest rate but also a money back incentive. Not all banks do but Tangerine offers a credit card with 2% money back on select purchases. What I find interesting about Tangerines offer is that they will allow you to pick up to 2 different categories where you’ll get your money back from, so if you know you’ll be buying groceries and gasoline weekly then you can ensure discounts on both.

Just like it sounds, by signing up with the company you take on the job of a task rabbit for others looking for some help with everything from daily tasks like; prescription pick up and drop off, purchased item delivery, grocery shopping and delivery, Ikea furniture building, furniture packing and moving, as well as other random errands. I think it’s a great way to make some extra money on the side if you have the spare time to share.

Use Money Back Shopping Sites.

With Canadian sites like Rakuten (formally Ebates) you can shop at many of your favorite stores in one great location for necessities and personal items with the great bonus appeal of getting cash back on every purchase. For advertising other stores goods and services Rakuten gets paid a commission on this service and they then pass saving back onto the customer. I think implementing sites and apps like Rakuten into your daily shopping habit is a great and effortless way to put a bit of money back in your pocket while getting what you already planned on purchasing.

Up-Trading Items.

If you’re like the 26 year old Montrealer Kyle MacDonald and you have the patience and the time, a fun thing to try is something called “Up-Trading”. Up-Trading is the art of taking a simple item such as a paperclip and trading it for something slightly more valuable until you end up with something worth while like a bicycle or in Kyle’s case a 2 story house. I personally think this is an awesome way to make a bit of money on the side if you have the time, its exciting and could cost you virtually nothing other than your time.

Make Some Extra Money Completing Surveys.

What appears to be a popular new money making trend, sites like Survey Junkie give individuals the opportunity to complete surveys and be what they call, “consumer trend setters” by offering their opinion on different products and options. As they state on their website, you won’t get rich but it’s a great way to put some extra cash in your pocket every month. If you have the extra time completing online surveys for cash can be an easy and fun way to pass the extra time you have. Without commitment, you can make as much or as little as you need to cover the extra inside of your monthly budget, within reason.

Provide Seasonal Labour to Your Neighbours.

A money making opportunity that only gets easier after childhood, seasonal labour. Even if it might not be the most glamourous, if you have the time and energy, offering to help your neighbours in need with certain seasonal tasks like lawn mowing, leaf raking or snow shoveling can be a great way to put a few dollars in your pocket and get a bit of fresh air and exercise.

-What did you learn: Regardless of education, the opportunity to increase your personal financial gain in life is mostly dedicated by want, drive and availability. As we move forward into the future of technology there are a seemly infinite amount of options to dedicate your extra time to in order to make some extra cash.

-How is this topic relevant to me in real life: As a mature student going through a full-time 2+ year program, its been difficult to manage my financial income outside of OSAP funding. Prior to the pandemic I personal drove for Uber, so I first hand understand the dedication it takes in order to improve your finances outside of career work.

If I could pass on some information I've learned, what would I pass on: I think inside of a lot of the options available, the long term options of investing and collecting financial bonuses such as dividends, investment interests, and cash back options from credit cards are potentially great ideas for everyone regardless of income.

Use Personal Skills to Make Some Extra Money.

If you have the skills, then why not pay the bills. A lot of people these days have experience in more than one career field which means that they also have at least twice the potential to market themselves to make some money on the side. If you’ve worked in a service, mechanical or repairs industry you may have a lot of applicable skills that you can offer others for a price on your own time.
