         <description><![CDATA[<div>"Every life lost matters.   <br>I know many of you are grieving and that this is a difficult moment for the world."<br><br>"But I want to be clear, there are green shoots of hope and no matter where a country, a region, a city or a town is – it’s never too late to turn the outbreak around. "<br><br>This was the message of WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom in his opening remarks at the media briefing on COVID-19  on August 10, 2020. <br>Adhanom gave the two essential elements to addressing the pandemic effectively.<br><br>"Leaders must step up to take action and citizens need to embrace new measures."<br><br>He discussed how other countries, like Mekong Region, New Zealand, Rwanda, and many island states across the Caribbean and the Pacific, suppress the virus immediately and the strategies they used.<br>"Strong and precise measures like these, in combination with utilising every tool at our disposal are key to preventing any resurgence in disease and allowing societies to be reopened safely. And even in countries where transmission is intense, it can be brought under control by applying an all of government, all of society response."<br><br>"Whether countries or regions have successfully eliminated the virus, suppressed transmission to a low level, or are still in the midst of a major outbreak; now is the time to do it all, invest in the basics of public health and we can save both lives and livelihoods."<br><br><br>He reiterated his message by saying, "My message is crystal clear: suppress, suppress, suppress the virus. If we suppress the virus effectively, we can safely open up societies."<br><br>The Director General also talked about the ACT- Accelerator and the updates with the COVID vaccines undergoing trials.<br><br>He ends his speech by saying a few words about the explosion in Lebanon, the financial support that will help the blast victims, and the deployment of qualified emergency medical teams.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The PNUV Math Guild finally administered their first Math and Science Culmination for the school year 2020, with the theme: "With Brains and Hands Together, We Can Make a Greener and Cooler Environment" last October 14 at their official facebook page: PNUV Math Guild, amidst pandemic.<br><br>PNUV Math Guild headed by their club president Mr. Xiel John Barnuevo together with his members worked hand in hand in administering their culmination through online platforms.<br><br>The program officially started last week at October 14, the guild posted their first activity entitled "Guess Me", that was participated by students from different year levels and specializations.<br><br>The activities of the culmination were all posted online, aiding the gap of distance between students brought by the pandemic.<br><br>The remaining activities namely: "Riddle", "Quiz Bee", and "Among Us Math Edition" were posted this October 21 that completed and concluded the guild's Math and Science Culmination for the school year 2020.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Calatrava NHS Grade 10 staff calls for parenting guidance<br><br>“So, bali kamo nga mga ginikanan mismo mao’y mahimong maestra sa inyong mga bata sa tagsa-tagsa ninyong panimalay”.<br><br>This was part of Sir Rhuby Maconocido’s speech as teacher head of Grade 10 during the ‘Parent’s Conference’ last August 12, 2020 at the school field in preparation for the upcoming school year 2020-2021. <br><br>The school has chosen to adapt the system of modular learning in response to the Department of Education’s fight against the CoVid-19 pandemic. Strict observation of health preventive measures inside and outside the school premises was led by the school principal, Dr. Cesar D. Adapon. The main goal of the conference is to inform parents of the new normal education. The Grade 10 staff also clarified a few questions from parents such as about the utilization of modules as well as its schedule for distribution and submission. Areas or centers to which the distribution and submission of modules were also tackled. <br><br>Meanwhile, parents were thrilled and anxious for their new role in helping their children learn amidst the health crisis. Teachers encourage parents and students to contact them anytime when necessary assistance is needed. <br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Negrosanon Soldiers Join PNUV&#39;s Brigada Eskwela </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Major General Vasquez ordered the three army battalion of the province of Negros Occidental to participate in PNUV's Brigada Eskwela activities. <br><br>Soldiers helped beautify the school grounds and facilities for the safety and conducive learning of pupils and students upon returning to school. <br><br>Female soldiers focused on covering books and gardening to enhance the aesthetic appeal of classrooms. <br>"By doing this parents, students, and as well as teachers will no longer worry for their expenses for the materials to cover their books and beautify their classroom", Lieutenant Colonel Salvador said. <br><br>Armed with hammer and nails the soldiers fixed chairs and tables that needs repair. They also painted old chairs and walls, a major renovation of assets of the school for the enhancement of the physical environment and quality materials for the students and faculty. <br><br>After the work, the soldiers, faculty, and staff of the school decided to have a meeting to strengthen the security of the school.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Luna, Cadiz City distributed 120 pieces of Prepaid wi-fi under the “SKonek 2020” program. The drive aimed to provide educational assistance to the youth amidst the pandemic.<br><br>Present in the youth gathering were SK council, headed by SK chairman Bryan Paul Dequita, 70 college students, 50 senior high school students, Globe technician and a representative of Hapi Radio, Cadiz. <br><br>Distribution of prepaid wifi was designed to meet the needs of the youth which have been so glaringly exposed in the crisis and to fill in the large gaps in students’ learning opportunities affected by the online delivery of instruction or “new normal” opening up the whole frontier to have access to technologies.<br><br>Alongside with its goal, the SK council administered a “Libre Print” project to provide students’ access to support and opportunities responsive to their needs of module printing.  Also, sets of PIXMA iP2770 Canon Printer were distributed to the different primary and secondary schools located at the vicinity.<br><br>The project was made possible through the support of the Sangguniang Barangay, spearheaded by Chairman Jessie D. Olvido.<br><br>Besides distributing the tools, the youth leaders mapped out plans to continually conduct symposiums and seminars about Mental Health, Sports Activities, and Food Nutrition to educate and to make concrete changes as youths in the community. These help provide opportunities for youth to participate in new roles, interact with peers, form relationships, develop their skills and interest in a specific area. <br><br>SK Kagawad Ronith Baykin asked for an active participation in the aforementioned programs to contribute to better governance, performance and psychological well-being of the youth. She also added that the involvement of each youth can derive developmental benefits from participating and to being updated.</div>]]></description>
