The 21st century the world is living in a perpetual state of food deprivation and lack in food security. With many countries experiencing and enduring this complication several other countries are attempting to combat this. Several governments have incorporated the use of genetically modified foods to support the increasing population which is coming to a near 9.5 billion, other societies are solely relying on sheer farming and pure agriculture, Punjab is a prime example to this.

50 years ago Punjab, India made the discovery that they were partially self sufficient by gradually making more and more bowls of rice to support their population, this civilization was able to become fully self-sufficient. Fast-forward many years later the current state that the civilization of Punjab has established is slowly deteriorating due to the 50% increase of their population, lack of water and healthy soil. With more mouths to feed the issue continues to rises.

Other countries are banding together to support one another, countries like New Zealand export their products of dairy, meats, poultry and crops to the UK. Spain, Poland, Tasmania and America are responsible for 30% of the exporting.

Genetically modified food is currently being produced to benefit and to change the way people are farming their foods. The main issue with these foods is that they are harmful to humans as these foods are genetically restructured... As scientists are only thinking of a way to speed the process of growing crops, they don't consider the harmful factors that these foods may hold.

There's also been a consideration that there should be "vertical farming". This is when food is being grown in greenhouses, stacked on top of each other to as much as 20 floors, a scientist stated in.

Nitrogen fertilizers have also been considered in being used in plants to also help speed the process of growing. Countries such as America and other countries that utilize genetically modified foods also happen to make use of the gas to assist in the growing...

Scientists currently are examining the food in laboratory under the microscope for new ways to grow these foods. These technologies that scientists are considering to ensure the food security include mechanical to biological and biochemical technology, biotechnology and nanotechnology as well as indigenous technology options.

That way, scientists can further explore the different technologies and create a better future for everyone, especially the population with an unstable food security.

References:

The future of food is becoming terrifyingly bleak for humans, we as humans are constantly searching for methods to support the world and its needs. There have been several ways to combat this; each of which having a special element to it. Algae farming is a considerable option for the production of energy and food, what we as humans do not know is that algae can produce around 7500 gallons of oil, a very valuable source of food, algae can also feeds millions of animals meaning that the use of crops to feed animals could be replaced with algae.

Another method to support the on-going food crisis is desert farming. Desert farming consists of using seawater greenhouses to to grow food and generate power. The process is using hot desert air to travel into the greenhouse it is then cooled and humidified by seawater. The humid air nourishes crops growing inside. The twp methods are still being researched by scientists today.
