2/4/2025

Today, I checked the opening procedure checklist one hour before the theme park opened. After that, I was assigned as a greeter. I encountered several issues from customers, for example, many did not know how to download the SkyWorlds Genting app to make ride reservations. The app is beneficial for them in understanding everything about the outdoor theme park operations.

3/4/2025

Compared to yesterday, today I learned how to do the checklist for another position to ensure that all equipment and facilities were in good condition before operating the roller coaster at Acorn Adventure. After that, I went to another ride, which was the Boat Ride, where guests get wet and must wear a raincoat. At this ride, I had to remind all the customers to be prepared before getting on. I felt happy because I was able to help many customers today.

4/4/2025

Today, the outdoor theme park was busy because it was Friday. Many parents brought their children, and tourists from all over the world came to explore the theme park at Genting Highlands. I solved an issue involving customers who did not follow the instructions, for example, bringing bags onto a ride despite the rules. They argued with me at first, but I politely asked them to place their belongings in the locker to make it easier and safer for them to enjoy the rides in the theme park.

5/4/2025

I learned how to manage the reservation process for the rides. In this case, I had to be strict to ensure that guests followed the rules. For example, if a guest made only one reservation, then only one person was allowed to enter and enjoy the ride. If they wanted to go through with friends or family, they needed to create a group in the app. This made it easier for them to use just one phone as the group admin. Whoever made a reservation could enjoy the ride through the fast lane, instead of lining up in the normal queue.

6/4/2025

In the morning, I completed the full checklist for the opening procedure at Acorn Adventure. After that, I was assigned to a new ride called the Tower (TTC). This ride is a combination of Shot Drop Turbo and Space Shot, and it moves very quickly up and down. I realized that working at the Tower could be challenging because the ride often raises many customer questions. I received a lot of questions like “Is it fast?” or “Is it thrilling?” For me, it was quite fun to answer all their questions.

7/4/2025

Today, I did the same tasks as yesterday, but in a different position, Loader 1. Loader 1 plays an important role in systematically sorting guests without pushing or pulling before boarding the roller coaster. For me, each position plays a crucial role in operating the rides. In the Loader 1 position, I witnessed the hard work of the employees to ensure the safety of the guests before the ride began.

8/4/2025

To begin the day, I did one of the most thrilling tasks I have ever experienced. I completed the checklist in the Load Confirms position. I had to inspect the condition of the roller coaster’s lifting area. I realized how high the lifting area was and had to wear a harness and full safety equipment to go up there. It was quite challenging for me since it was my first time, but at the same time, it was fun and exciting. This is one of the essential operations required to run the outdoor theme park, which includes many different types of rides.

9/4/2025

Usually, on weekdays, there were not many local visitors; most of the guests were tourists from other countries such as Dubai, India, Canada, and others. By Week 4, I had already become familiar with the information about SkyWorlds Theme Park. Even while working in the greeter position, I helped guests with directions, explained the rides, and more. Through this, I learned a lot about tourist behavior and how to handle conflicts that arose with customers.

10/4/2025

Today, I witnessed customers not following the rules and procedures, including some who were dishonest. For example, some insisted on bringing their children onto the ride even though the children did not meet the required height. This is one of the strict rules that must be followed for safety reasons, as we want to ensure nothing happens to the guests.

11/4/2025

In the position of greeter, I acted as a front-liner to assist customers before they arrived at the platform. Besides assisting them, I realized that the greeter plays an important role in helping guests so they aren't left confused when they need information. Additionally, I observed different types of tourist groups, including families, friends, tour groups, and couples.

12/4/2025

Today, I was also in the position of greeter throughout the day. Everything ran smoothly, except for the weather, which included rain and fog.

13/4/2025

In the morning, I completed the checklist for Loader 1. I was assigned to Loader 1, Unload Advance, and Grouper 2 for the day. During my shift, I discovered that one of the customers could not enjoy the ride because the restraint couldn’t be properly secured due to their weight. Unfortunately, they were unable to ride. Similarly, guests over 190 cm in height were not able to ride the roller coaster due to height restrictions.

14/4/2025

I began the day by completing the checklist for the Unload Advance position and remained in that position for both Unload Advance and Load Confirm. During the day, I encountered customers who did not follow my instructions before the ride started. This issue needed to be addressed properly, so I politely asked them to follow the instructions, such as putting their phones in their pockets and refraining from recording during the roller coaster ride.

16/4/2025

Today, I completed the load confirm checklist at the lifting area to ensure that the ride vehicles and panel consoles were in good working order and safe to operate. Throughout the day, I was assigned to various positions, including load confirm, unload advance, grouper 2, and loader 1 at the Acorn Adventure rollercoaster ride. I gained valuable experience in understanding how the operations work on a daily basis. It was quite tiring, and I have a newfound respect for the people in the operations sector, as they not only have to learn their tasks but also need to multitask effectively to keep everything running smoothly.

17/4/2025

In the morning, I completed a checklist while stationed at the Unload Advance position for Acorn Adventure. After that, I assisted as a greeter at the Independence Day ride. The Independence Day ride is a 6D VR experience that includes motion effects while seated. For me, it was a very exciting ride because it combines virtual reality with movement, making it a fun attraction that families and friends can enjoy together.

18/4/2025

I spent the entire day working as a greeter at TTC. After closing, I continued my training on the Tower's evacuation procedures. It is required for all team members to understand how the evacuation is carried out, so we know what to do in case of an emergency. I believe this is one of the most crucial aspects of our responsibilities, as it directly involves the safety of our customers.

19/4/2025

I had a training session about the Tower ride, which covered topics such as its theory, operating positions, restraint system, how it works, and weather conditions. I learned that the Tower is a very sensitive ride it can detect rain or even fog, and must be closed immediately in such conditions. This often leads to questions from guests about why the ride is closed. The Tower is one of the most thrilling rides in the park, and many customers don't want to miss the chance to try it.

20/4/2025

Today, I was exposed to how the team members evacuate guests if something happens to the ride. I learned that there is a specific procedure to follow before rescuing the guests. I was also taught about which doors to use, the layout of the basements, and other important details. We must take this matter seriously because it involves the safety of our customers. I also learned how to manage guest behavior during a panic situation, such as keeping them calm and offering reassuring words to help them feel safe.

21/4/2025

When I started my internship at this company, I learned a lot about tourists. I felt very lucky to have the opportunity to be exposed to this kind of work experience. For example, today I encountered a tourist who was a VIP guest. VIP guests have someone assigned to assist them and are given priority access to rides without having to line up, unlike regular customers who must make reservations through the app. VIP tickets are also more expensive compared to normal tickets.

23/4/2025

Today, I continued working as a greeter at TTC. There were a few issues with management, particularly the lack of assistance for customers at the entrance, which led to confusion about the rides and the SkyWorld app. I helped customers by providing explanations and information that they had not received prior to their visit to the theme park. In this case, I felt that customer service was lacking and needed improvement to better support the guest experience.

24/4/2025

Today, I shadowed the positions of Loader 1 and ROC. After that, I learned how to operate the Main Operational Control (MOC) console for the first time. I was in awe of how the entire process was conducted. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of operations within the tourism sector. Every day, I learned something new, and it helped expand my knowledge about the rides and outdoor operations in the theme park.

25/4/2025

I worked as a greeter in the morning, followed by shadowing the MOC (Main Operator Console) position in the evening to strengthen my knowledge of ride operations before signing off. This was very important because the MOC position is responsible for controlling the panel that starts the ride and operates the restraint system, opening, checking, and locking it. Everything is managed from the control console.

26/4/2025

To be in a position at the tower rides, I needed to pass an examination to pass. It was a requirement to attend to the customers in the platform area. I passed the examination with all the answers correct. I was really happy today, and tomorrow I will already be in a position. After all that, everything I learned and memorized is now in my head.

4/5/2025

Today, I learned how to handle the resignation form process for settling an employee's departure. There were step-by-step procedures that needed to be followed. The supervisor was responsible for completing all the necessary documents for the team members. Moreover, I learned how guests could get a refund for their tickets due to bad weather. If it rained continuously for two hours, guests would be eligible for a guarantee ticket, allowing them to return on any day within one year to make up for the day they were unable to enjoy the outdoor theme park.

5/5/2025

Today, I was responsible for handling the closing of the theme park. I shadowed my supervisor in Zone D, which covered the rides Samba Gliders, Blue Sky Carousel, Rio Chaos Carnival, Epic Hummingbird Flyers, and Voyage to Moonhaven. If anything happened to the rides, I had to monitor and help solve the problems, as this falls under the supervisor’s job scope. I learned a lot during the work shift.

8/5/2025

My day started at 11:30 a.m. because I was on the closing shift. While shadowing in Zone D, I encountered and witnessed a ride with technical issues at Sambar Gliders. I learned from my supervisor how she handled the situation. Everything went smoothly throughout the day.

18/5/2025

Today, we had one newcomer to handle and take care of. After completing all the necessary onboarding processes, I accompanied my supervisor to attend the daily effective briefing. During the session, the supervisor explained important topics to the team members, such as service reminders, personal conduct, cultural differences, and the outbound rating survey.

19/5/2025

Today, I learned how to prepare documents for new hires. After completing all the necessary processes and giving them a safety briefing about the rides and the park, we took the new hires on a sidewalk tour of the outdoor theme park to introduce each ride and the facilities provided. Before ending my shift, my supervisor showed me how to send an email regarding cross-training for team members for the upcoming dates.

21//5/2025

Today, I was in the position of Cover Park, where I roamed around the park to ensure that all the rides were operating properly and that each position at the rides was staffed with responsible team members. I checked for any issues where I could assist, and I was always ready to help the Supervisor on Duty with any tasks. I offered my support wholeheartedly, as I saw this as a valuable opportunity to learn and grow.

22/5/2025

Same as yesterday, I was also in the Cover Park position today. During my round, I discovered a door that guests had entered, even though it was not supposed to be accessed by them. It seemed that they were unaware that the area was restricted. The issue was resolved by the supervisor responsible for that zone, and I assisted them as needed. Later, I also listened to the effective daily briefing, which covered important points about how to interact with guests and what to do while working in the field of customer service.

23/5/2025

Discipline is one of the important responsibilities within a supervisor's job scope. First, they track all issues such as absences, lateness, resignations, terminations, late swipes, quarantines, and other disciplinary cases. After updating the tracker, they email it to ensure that the internal department is informed about the current week's records. Next, they begin preparing the paperwork related to team members' absences and lateness, which will then be submitted to LDE. I carefully observed and learned the entire process, and I discovered how detailed and precise this work needs to be.

24/5/2025

Today, I shadowed Zone C and was responsible for overseeing all the rides in that zone. A guest had difficulty understanding which rides she was allowed to go on, as she was using a hand grip stick or walker. Due to safety reasons, certain rides were not suitable for her.

1/6/2025

Today was my first day reporting to the new department, which is the Park Experience Department. I was given a brief introduction about the department and what I would be learning during my time there. I was informed that I would be responsible for ensuring all the facilities in the park are in good condition. This includes monitoring, reporting, and assisting in maintaining the overall guest experience by making sure everything runs smoothly and meets the required standards.

2/6/2025

Today, my supervisor taught me about how the opening shift is carried out. Early in the morning, the team has to check and prepare the park before operations begin. We had to make sure the toilets, hygiene standards, and general areas were all in good condition and clean. This is important to ensure the best service is provided to customers. In the tourism sector, this is one of the challenges we face in order to maintain the image of being one of the best attractions in Malaysia.

3/6/2025

Just like yesterday, today I learned how to carry out the opening checklist. The checklist is necessary for jotting down and taking notes about the condition of the facilities. Everything needs to be recorded precisely so that any issues can be reported to the relevant departments to be resolved. Each zone in the park needs to be taken care of properly. There was a lot of work to do, but it was still manageable and bearable to handle.

5/6/2025

Learning about the radio channels was an important part of the training. Each channel is assigned to a different department to facilitate communication through the walkie-talkie. The walkie-talkie is essential for all personnel in charge of daily operations. After that, I learned about hand signals and general codes used to convey information to other departments through the walkie-talkie.

6/6/2025

Today, I was exposed to the map of the outdoor theme park. For example, I learned that each fountain has its name, and I discovered the specific names of certain places that I hadn’t known before. The map provided more detailed information, covering the entire park, including the facilities and other important areas.

7/6/2025

After handling the opening, we were busy preparing the food to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha. There were many dishes served, such as satay, nasi tomato, cocktails, and other side dishes. It was a fun experience and one of the best memories I will remember from my internship journey. All the team members were very kind to me even though I was new, they still took good care of me.

8/6/2025

Today, I learned about downtime and evacuation equipment. A downtime is called when something happens to a ride or within the park that affects operations. This is important because our job is to ensure the safety of the guests and to assist in solving the problem if needed. After that, I was introduced to the equipment used during an evacuation, such as a cap, baton, torchlight, vest, and other necessary items. All safety equipment must be used and worn during such situations to ensure proper procedures are followed.

9/6/2025

Today was a new experience for me because I was assigned to the closing shift. My supervisor taught and showed me how to assist with the parade and perform the park sweep. Assisting the parade involves helping to clear the way for the performers so the parade can run smoothly. The park sweep is the process of guiding guests out of the park once it closes sharply at 6 PM. To ensure the park is completely cleared, we need to remind guests that the park is already closed. We cannot leave until all the guests have exited. It is our responsibility to make sure the park is clean, clear, and free of guests before we end our shift.

10/6/2025

Every Tuesday is the day we carry out detailed deep cleaning because the outdoor theme park is not in operation. On this day, we focus on finding specific areas that are rarely noticed or cleaned by the regular cleaning staff. This task is important to ensure the park remains clean and looks hygienic for the guests. Some people might think this work is unnecessary, but it is one of the most important things to do. Besides that, it helps raise guest awareness about the cleanliness of the park and can encourage them to recommend the park to their friends and family.

11/6/2025

Today, I did my work as usual during my closing shift. I followed and assisted my supervisor in charge to complete the tasks. We had to lock the prayer room in the park at 6 PM because the park closed at that time. After that, we slowly assisted the guests towards the entrance. We needed to ensure that all areas in the park were clear and that no guests remained inside.

12/6/2025

Today, I was exposed to action items and job tickets. Action items are lists that consist of damaged items or locations that require a longer time to repair and need to be checked. They must be marked as completed or not once inspected. Managing action items is a responsibility for the entire park, ensuring that all facilities are in good condition and safe for use. After that, I learned about job tickets, which are forms or proof indicating that a place or item needs to be repaired.

13/6/2025

Today, I learned how the closing checklist is done. It is used to ensure that all locations are checked before the park closes. Other than that, I did the park sweep as usual for the day.

14/6/2025

Today, I learned about evacuation procedures in case of a fire or emergency. The first action to take is to ensure that the affected area is cleared and no guests remain inside. We must guide guests to a designated open space away from any danger. There are two types of evacuations: World Evacuation and Parkwide Evacuation. A World Evacuation involves closing only one specific area of the park while the other areas remain open. In contrast, a Parkwide Evacuation requires the entire park to be evacuated. In addition, I learned that the Park Experience Department has three main responsibilities during an evacuation: searching, blocking, and giving direction to ensure a smooth and safe evacuation process.

23/6/2025

Today, my supervisor exposed and explained to me the responsibilities of the Park Experience team in terms of park presentation. These responsibilities include cleanliness, AVL (Audio, Visual, and Lights), and identifying areas that need repainting. For cleanliness, during park rounds, if we saw any rubbish, it was our responsibility to inform the cleaners to clean it up. For AVL, if we noticed any area without background music or sound, we needed to report it to Base Operations so that appropriate action could be taken. Lastly, regarding park maintenance, if we observed any walls with peeling or faded paint, we were responsible for reporting it and noting that it needed to be repaired.

26/6/2025

Today, I gained new knowledge about emergency exits. I learned that all service gates, including the main entrance, function as emergency exits. In addition, emergency doors are released in the event of an emergency. Safety is the number one priority in the operations sector. We must always take action and precautions to prepare for any unexpected situations that may occur.

27/6/2025

Today, I conducted a survey to gather feedback from customers. This was done to enhance and gain insights into how guests felt about their experience in our outdoor theme park and the services they received. We collected all the feedback to help us improve and provide even better service in the future. During the survey, I truly enjoyed my time because of the interactions I had with the guests. I also assisted them by answering any questions they asked me. I was more than willing to help, offering directions and providing any information they needed with open arms.

28/7/2025

My supervisor explained to me about supporting other business units. This involves providing assistance to other departments when they need additional manpower. For example, today I was assigned to assist the SkyWay (cable car) operations team. My task was to guide guests by giving directions and showing them the signboard with arrows pointing the way to Genting SkyWay. This support was needed because their team was short on manpower. We were reminded that we must always be ready and open to helping other departments. After all, we are one company, and it's important to support each other.

1/7/2025

Every Tuesday, we were required to conduct an effective daily briefing, which covered various topics we needed to understand about the theme park. For example, we learned about the “Rainy Day Guarantee” that was offered to guests, information about kiosks, and other important matters. I gained different types of information that I needed to know so that I could respond accurately if guests asked questions. Before explaining each topic in more detail, the supervisor would ask me what I understood about it.

6/7/2025

Today was my last day conducting the survey at the SkyWay cable car. A foreign guest asked me where the SkyAvenue Atrium was, and I explained it to her. I saw many people using the cable car to go to the theme park, including a large number of foreign tourists who came to enjoy the attractions in Malaysia. Genting Highlands was truly one of the best places to visit, offering both outdoor and indoor theme park experiences filled with exciting rides and attractions.

7/7/2025

Today, I was on the opening shift, so I helped and assisted my supervisor in preparing the park before it began operations. We checked for any issues, such as problems with toilets or other facilities, to ensure everything was functioning properly. We made sure all facilities were operating as usual and that there were no problems for guests to use them. After that, we welcomed the guests into the park before it was officially opened for them to explore.

8/7/2025

Today, I asked about the job scope of an executive position. I was exposed to the responsibilities of the executive role in the Park Experience Department. For example, they were responsible for reporting maintenance work, submitting damage reports, handling operations, and preparing proposals for improvement. Every month, they needed to propose new ideas to ensure continuous progress and improvements to the facilities, including upgrades or makeovers. They were also required to prepare the training schedule for internal training sessions for supervisors. In addition, managing the stock list was also part of their duties.

9/7/2025

Today, I continued learning about which routes guests could and could not use. My supervisor showed me around the park to ensure I understood which areas were restricted and which were accessible. There were many items that guests were not allowed to bring into the park, such as drones and personal carts that could fit their children. Instead, strollers for babies were available for rent inside the park. Moreover, guests were required to store their baggage in the provided lockers.

10/7/2025 - 12/7/2025

As usual, I helped the team members with their tasks and asked questions whenever I was unsure about something. They were always willing to share the information they knew, and they usually did. I learned a lot from them, and I felt that I was getting closer to them. They were really nice to me.

13/7/2025

Today was the last day before my off day, and I was on the opening shift with my team members and supervisors. The day went smoothly without any problems. My supervisor asked me if there was anything I wanted to ask her, so I took the opportunity to ask about the threats and opportunities for the Park Experience Department. I gained a lot of valuable information from her.

16/7/2025- 18/7/2025

According to the schedule, I was on my off day, and the 18th was my last day of internship in this department. I felt very happy because my internship had come to an end, and I gained a lot from this experience. I was truly thankful for the people who were kind and always helped me in every way they could. I deeply appreciated everyone around me. This was the best experience for me before stepping into the real working world. I learned a lot and faced different kinds of challenges during my internship. I hoped that after this, I would be able to go through any process and overcome problems without worry.
