Districts are roughly equal in population, which is determined by the census.<br>50 senators = 50 senatorial districts.<br>120 HOR Reps= 120 HOR districts.<br><br>Qualifications- 21 years to be in house<br>30 to be in Senate<br>35 for president.<br><br>General Assembly Leadership-<br>NC HOUSE<br>Speaker of the house- Presides over HOR &amp; key appointments<br>NC SENATE<br>Lieutenant Governor is president of senate, tiebreaker.&nbsp;<br>President pro tempore- Runs the senate when Lieutenant is not there for their job.<br><br>Legislative Sessions-<br>Short session in even number years- 6 weeks<br>Long session on odd number years- 6 months<br>Special Sessions- called by governor or speaker of the house and pres of senate-<br><br>Key Legislation-<br>2005 state lottery created- NC Education Lottery<br>2006 first minimum wage bump- moved to 6.15 per hour<br>(colloquialism/ Short slag way of saying it )<br>HB2/ Public Facilities Privacy &amp; Security Act</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
