Self Harm is a big social issue in this book since Whitney becomes anorexic when she stops eating and starts to loose weight. That would be considered self harm because she is physically hurting herself, most likely for her modeling career.

I think that body image is a big social issue because Anna and her sisters are all models and they tend to talk a lot about how much they should weigh or how they should look. And Whitney is suffering from an eating disorder, so she doesn't eat so that she looks skinner and on top of that she wouldn't eat and would go to the gym and workout for hours. This also leads on to another social issue which is self harm. Because when you don't eat you lack nutrients thats help your body function and overall your basically starving yourself to death.

While Whitney tries to get better, Annabel deals with Sophie who used to be her best friend. On page 64 (Chapter 4) it talks about how Sophie is very bold and open and that can hurt Annabel. It even states on page 65," I'd been the one who walked alongside Sophie while she did her dirty work , when I was the person who, while not taking part in the slur, didn't stop it either." This is just one of the many examples of where Sophie has said something that could hurt Annabel or Clarke and even other people. The reason I think this is bullying is because when someone is bullying someone, its because they're dealing with there own problems. Sophies parents just divorced and that could be affecting her

I feel like one major social issue in the book is fitting in and friendships. Annabel may feel the pressure of fitting in as a model or in school. After that summer, her friendships changed. It brings me to another social issue that she might face, change or finding the right type of friendships. For example, Annabel was best friends with Sophie. Sophie was a bad influence and always judged people. I felt like the only reason why Annabel was friends with her was because she was scared of her.

And to show this the author gives us a perspective of a girl who goes through it. And I also think that the author is trying to tell us that you should never judge a book by its cover meaning never judge people because of the rumors that you have heard or because of their looks. http://www.bullyingstatistics.org/content/teenage-bullying.html

Anorexia harms physically but also mentally changes the way you think about eating.

Whitney and Annabel have a very complex relationship. They seem to be nice to each other but then there are times when it seems like Whitney is cut off from the rest of her family. Whitney is the type of person who keep all her problems to herself which is a bad thing because it creates so many more problems. Annabel is the type of person who says things to please others so they're actually similar but they never had a strong bond. The thing is that since they're sisters, they have to stick with each other and take care of each other but still hide they're emotions.

Annabel and Whitney have very different relationships between their parents. Whitney is more dependent on her parents while Annabel is more independent. I think Annabel has gotten used to the fact that Whitney has a eating disorder and she needs more attention. I feel like Annabel doesn't get the attention she needs though. She wants to keep her mom happy by still modeling even though she's over it. I feel like Annabel is the glue to her family concerning all these issues and problems. I think the only real support Annabel has is Owen.

I also think music is symbolism to this book because it links people together. Owen and Annabel connected because of music. And that time when Owen delivered pizza and connected with Whitney, Annabel's sister. It also connected Clarke and Rolly because of the concert. Music not only connected or linked different unexpected characters together but changed how a character deals with their issues and problems. When Annabel feels stressed, she listens to music to calm down. Same with Owen. "Silence is so freaking loud".

I think a theme in this book is to be yourself and to know that everybody is different and unique. Especially with Annabel, Kirsten and Whitney being models, body image can play a key issue to this book. Especially with Whitney's eating disorder. I thin the author wants to tell readers that body image doesn't matter. It's how you act in the inside.

I think slowly, by listening to music and for Annabel to have sometime to think, her life gets better as she confesses to things that have been bothering her. I think the more she lets go of, the less anger is built inside of her. She took Emily's advice and dealt with Will. She confronted her parents about the issue from the party. She finally was friends with Clarke. She opened up about how she really felt about modeling, she said sorry to Owen. I think listening to music made her realize that you can't hold on to guilt, regret, anger. You have to let it go and confess.
